On July 6, 2025, a delegation from the Voice of Vietnam (VOV) visited and held a working session with Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology. The meeting was co-chaired by Tran Tuan Anh, Vice President of the Academy, and Vu Hai Quang, Deputy Director General of the Voice of Vietnam (VOV).

An overview of the working session

Speaking at the working session, Deputy Director General of VOV Vu Hai Quang emphasised VOV’s strengths, with a nationwide network of radio channels and an online newspaper capable of delivering timely and accurate information.

On the Academy’s side, Vice President Tran Tuan Anh highly appreciated the long-standing cooperation between the Academy and VOV, affirming that the Academy would continue to strengthen the provision of official scientific information, particularly observational data and early warnings on various types of natural disasters such as earthquakes, tsunamis, landslides, and floods.

Both sides agreed to soon sign a comprehensive cooperation agreement in September this year. The cooperation will focus on jointly producing programmes and news articles on science and technology, especially establishing a coordination process for broadcasting disaster warnings, and piloting the integration of disaster warning technologies and communication via VOV in several key monitoring areas. Vice President Tran Tuan Anh assigned specific tasks to relevant units, such as the Institute of Earth Sciences and the Department of Application and Development of Technology, to take the lead in proactively developing detailed plans for cooperation with VOV.

As part of the programme, the VOV working delegation also visited the Earthquake and Tsunami Warning Centre under the Institute of Earth Sciences to gain first-hand insight into the operational process and capabilities of Vietnam’s warning system.
