Promoting research and development of green energy technologies through international cooperation

Discussion session “International ecosystem: Integrating into a green future”
Engaging in discussions with leaders from many countries and international organisations, including Sergey Maslyak, Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection of Belarus; Stepan Kalmykov, Vice President of the Russian Academy of Sciences; and José Fidel Santana Nuñez, Deputy Minister of Science, Technology and Environment of Cuba, Prof. Acad. Le Truong Giang affirmed that in recent years, Vietnam has placed special emphasis on the development of science and technology, especially in green industries, to meet socio-economic development requirements.
In particular, at the end of 2024, the General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam signed and promulgated Resolution 57-NQ/TW on breakthroughs in the development of science, technology, innovation, and national digital transformation. This resolution highlights the role of international integration, the formation of a global scientific ecosystem, and the promotion of strong linkages among scientists, enterprises, and governments to address emerging challenges.

Prof. Acad. Le Truong Giang, Vice President of VAST, presents his initiative at the discussion session “International Ecosystem: Integrating into a Green Future”
Prof. Acad. Le Truong Giang stressed that the theme of this session is both timely and far-reaching, representing the shared aspiration of all nations to create a green, clean, and sustainable living environment. He proposed two key initiatives:
First, to develop a common set of standards for new green technologies and products among nations, thereby providing a framework for mastering technologies that support sustainable development.
Second, countries jointly establish an international research facility dedicated to green technologies, initially focusing on clean energy technologies such as hydrogen energy, fusion reactors, and small nuclear reactors. This would include cooperation in human-resource training and interconnection to form an ecosystem supporting innovation.
Prof. Acad. Le Truong Giang affirmed that participation in this prestigious international forum provided an excellent opportunity for Vietnam to enhance cooperation and move towards greater self-reliance in the field of green energy. His remarks received strong interest from international partners, contributing to affirming Vietnam’s role in joining hands with the global community to build a green, safe, and sustainable energy future.
