Prof. Acad. Le Truong Giang – Vice President of VAST works with Airbus Group

Continuing discussions from the previous meeting on July 17, 2025, Prof. Acad. Le Truong Giang, Vice President of Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (VAST), had a working session with Airbus Group, led by Mr. Stephane Vesval, Vice President and Head of Governmental Satellite Systems. The meeting, held on the afternoon of October 2, 2025, aimed to further promote the implementation of the VNREDSat-1 satellite replacement programme, with both sides engaging in in-depth exchanges and direct discussions.

Attending the meeting on the VAST side were Dr. Bui Trong Tuyen, Head of the Planning and Finance Department, and Dr. Ngo Duy Tan, Deputy Director-General of the Vietnam National Space Center.

In his remarks, Vice President Le Truong Giang welcomed Mr. Stephane Vesval and the Airbus delegation to VAST and provided updates on the VNREDSat-1 replacement programme.

He also emphasised VAST’s expectation that Airbus would clarify the technical aspects and enhance satellite capabilities to fully meet Vietnam’s requirements.

Expressing gratitude for VAST’s warm reception and the updates provided by Prof. Acad. Le Truong Giang, Mr. Stephane Vesval shared information about Airbus’s CO3D optical Earth observation satellite constellation, which was launched at the end of July 2025. The CO3D constellation represents a state-of-the-art optical Earth observation system jointly developed by Airbus and the French National Centre for Space Studies (CNES).

At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to continue close coordination, maintain technical exchanges, and complete the necessary procedures to soon realise the programme.
