Prime Minister appointed Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chu Hoang Ha VAST Vice President

Assoc. Prof. Chu Hoang Ha was born in 1969. He graduated from the biochemistry major at the Faculty of Biology, Vietnam National University - Hanoi in 1992. He received a PhD in molecular biology at Martin-LutherHalle-Wittenberg University, Halle, Germany, in 2001. Then he did postdoctoral internships at the Leibniz Institute of Plant Genetics and Crop Plant Research (IPK), Gatersleben and Karlsruhe University, Germany, from 2001 to 2003 and at National Food Research Institute (NFRI), Tsukuba, Japan, and  from 2006 to 2007. He was named Associate Professor in 2010.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chu Hoang Ha has been working with the Institute of Biotechnology since the early days of graduation. He has held the position of Director of Gene Technology Key Laboratory and Vice Director of the Institute of Biotechology from the 2015-2020 period, member of the Executive Board of VAST Party Committee in term 2015-2020. In additon, took the position of Head of Biotechnology Department, member of Science and Technology Council, Graduate University of Science and Technology; Vice President of Biotechnology Industry Council under VAST; Member of Executive Board of Vietnam Biological Association, Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations.

The main research directions are the application of genetic technology in the fields of agriculture, forestry, fisheries and biomedicine, bio-nanomaterials. In scientific research, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chu Hoang Ha has been participating and presiding over many State and VAST level sience and technology projects. Many of his scientific works were published in prestigious professional journals. Many of which, including four degrees of organic solutions, were published in international journals on the list of ISI with high citation index.

Implementing the Prime Minister's Decision, on April 14th, 2020, VAST President issued Document 622/ TB-VHL on the assignment of acacamy leaderships. In particular, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chu Hoang Ha is in charge of: Technology application and deployment; Cooperating with ministries, branches and localities; performing a number of other tasks assigned by VAST President; and is  responsible for assigned tasks by the President.
