Overview of the meeting
Ambassador Olivier Brochet emphasized that VAST and French partners have long-term cooperation in many fields of science and technology, and recently the Vietnam-France University project has become a symbol of effective cooperation between the Governments of Vietnam and France, and is also a model in French cooperation projects with other countries. Cooperation between VAST and French universities and research organizations has contributed to strengthening the cooperative relationship between the two countries, contributing to the application of science and technology to solve global challenges and new problems in the recent time.
President Chau Van Minh said that Vietnam-France University is increasingly prestigious in Vietnam and the region, and with the school's new modern and synchronous campus being actively deployed in the Lang – Hoa Lac high-tech park, VAST hopes that the Ambassador, the French Embassy and French partners will continue to support Vietnam-France University to enhance its development and increase its regional and international influence; At the same time, diversifying occupations and training fields and training forms in accordance with current development trends. Training high-quality human resources will continue to inherit the good results of cooperation from the existing joint research project between VAST and French research organizations.

VAST President and French Ambassador mentioned outstanding cooperation projects between VAST and French partners, such as the PLUME marine ecology and environment survey project with the French Institute for Research for Development (IRD); joint laboratory project between the French National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS) and a chain of science schools; biodiversity and ecology conservation project with the French National Museum of Natural History and VAST's participation in the project "Sharing and preserving Vietnamese Heritage" initiated by the French Embassy initiative and sponsorship; and especially an outstanding science and technology project between Vietnam and France is Vietnam's first Earth observation satellite project VNRedSat-1. With technical advantages in French satellite technology (the VNRedSat-1 satellite has operated twice as long as it was designed) and effectiveness in applying satellite images in scientific research and natural resource monitoring, the two sides wish to develop follow-up projects.
Ambassador Olivier Brochet agreed with VAST’s proposals and pledged to support and be ready to provide maximum support, promoting cooperation between VAST and research and training organizations in France. On the basis of diverse cooperative relations with many positive results, the two sides agreed to continue exchanging, discussing and jointly proposing new cooperation models, worthy of the traditional relations between the two countries.
