On May 18, 2023, the workshop "Open science from perspectives" took place on the occasion of Vietnam Science and Technology Day, and responded to UNESCO's spirit of spreading awareness of open science to the community. The workshop was organized by the International Centre of Research and Postgraduate Training in Mathematics, Vingroup Innovation Fund, International Centre of Physics, Institute for Scientific Information, and Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology.

Open science is an important topic and has many different perspectives in the digital transformation era, when knowledge is no longer confined to academia, or technology, but has a direct and strong impact on many businesses and economies, when that knowledge needs to be expanded and shared reasonably. However, the concepts of Open Science are quite vague or scattered to many people.

With the desire to promote a common understanding of open science, core values, challenges as well as different pathways leading to open science, the lectures at the workshop were presented by speakers from different fields: policy development experts, managers belonging to business associations, and prestigious scientists at research institutes. In addition, attending the workshop were scientists and young people interested in the field of science and technology and humanities society to have open dialogues, contributing to the richness of diversity and the intersection between different fields.

Prof. Dr. Ho Tu Bao, Institute for Advanced Study in Mathematics, with the lecture "Open Science Data"

The seminar "Open science from perspectives" with the main content of mass lectures on topics related to open science. In particular, the lecture "Open scientific data" by Prof. Dr. Ho Tu Bao, Institute for Advanced Study in Mathematics, highlighted the importance and benefits of open data systems in scientific research, especially in the current era of scientific and technological development and change. Prof. Ho Tu Bao said that open science brings harmonious benefits to industries, ensuring integrity, fairness and equality in sharing data and knowledge.

Prof. Dr. Nguyen The Toan, Head of Physics Faculty, University of Natural Sciences, Hanoi National University with the lecture "Scientific research direction converging and the role of physics in evolutionary biology"

The second lecture was titled "Convergent scientific research directions and the role of physics in evolutionary biology" by Prof. Dr. Nguyen The Toan, Head of the Faculty of Physics, University of Natural Sciences, Hanoi National University presented that one of the motivations for open science to develop, which is interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary research. Prof. Nguyen The Toan advocates an open science in which the strongest knowledge and techniques of different disciplines combine and converge together to find solutions to the most complex problems of nature.
