Nam Mien Trung Group Joint Stock Company visits and works at Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology
The delegation of Nam Mien Trung Group, led by Mr. Nguyen Hoang Anh, Chairman of the Board of Directors, included Mr. Dang Quoc Tuan, Vice Chairman; Ms. Nguyen Ngoc Quynh Nhu, Marketing Director.
Receiving the delegation, on the VASS side, there were Prof. Dr. Chu Hoang Ha, Vice President of Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology, together with leaders and scientists from the Technology Application and Deployment Department, Institute of Biotechnology, Institute of Genome Research, Institute of Information Technology, Institute of Marine Environment and Resources, and Institute of Environmental Technology.
On the guest side, there was also Dr. Pham Duc Nghiem, Deputy Director of the Science and Technology Enterprise and Market Development Department, Ministry of Science and Technology.
At the meeting
At the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Hoang Anh said, Nam Mien Trung Group was established in 1997, and developed according to a multi-sector investment strategy with 3 main blocks: fisheries, trade - services and real estate. In particular, Nam Mien Trung Group has affirmed its leading position in the shrimp seed production industry in Vietnam with 7 high-tech complex shrimp seed production zones invested according to American technology standards. Production capacity of shrimp seed is 15 billion per year. In addition, Nam Mien Trung is the only unit in Vietnam that successfully produces large-scale Japanese eel. Currently, Nam Mien Trung Group is discussing cooperation opportunities with a number of localities to build large-scale shrimp breeding industrial areas, therefore, it is very necessary to master core technologies for the shrimp industry, especially high value-added technologies. Mr. Nguyen Hoang Anh expressed his hope that with its existing potential, Nam Mien Trung Group would effectively own and invest in the application of technologies/research results transferred from the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology.
Representative of the Academy, Prof. Dr. Chu Hoang Ha said that the Academy is a leading unit in science and technology of the country, with many research results that have been applied in practice. VASS has implemented many technology transfers to local businesses across the country, including in the agriculture and fisheries sectors. At the same time, he expressed his willingness to cooperate in research and transfer appropriate technologies related to fields of mutual interest.

The two sides exchanged and discussed cooperation opportunities related to shrimp breeding and commercial shrimp farming technologies; technology to treat shrimp pond water and sludge; technology for producing and processing shrimp feed; integrated shrimp farm management and monitoring technology, including water criteria, technical supervision, automatic feeding, and people in and out management; technology for harvesting, preliminary processing and preserving finished shrimp products. In addition to technologies serving the shrimp industry, the two sides also discussed cooperation opportunities on spirulina farming and Vinh Hao ginseng cultivation.
