Minister of Sciences and Technology works with the Vietnam Academy of Sciences and Technology

On August 18th, 2010, the Vietnam Academy of Sciences and Technology held a conference to present the framework of the programme of universe technology and science and the draft outline for the research about the Central Highlands in the 2011-2015 period to the working delegation from the Ministry of Sciences and Technology led by its Deputy Minister Le Dinh Tien. The draft outline for the research about the Central Highlands is entitled “Research to review and synthesize environmental resources, socio-economics and propose foundation of sciences and technology for the strategy of sustainable development in the Central Highlands in the 2011-2020 and vision to 2030” (the Central Highlands III programme for short).

At the conference, a representative from the Vietnam Academy of Sciences and Technology made a presentation to Deputy Minister of Sciences and Technology Le Dinh Tien about general objectives of the framework of the programme of universe technology and science until 2020.

The draft of the Central Highlands III programme aims for sustainable development in the Central Highlands, including economic growth, management of resources, restriction of environmental degradation and social management, increase in labour and jobs, and promotion of national cultural identities.

Addressing at the conference, Deputy Minister Le Dinh Tien assessed the necessity of the programme “Research to review and synthesize environmental resources, socio-economics and propose foundation of sciences and technology for the strategy of sustainable development in the Central Highlands in the 2011-2020 and vision to 2030”. He said that it was an opportunity to gather the force of scientists to contribute to solving the sustainable development for a region.



Deputy Minister of Sciences and Technology, Le Dinh Tien, made a speech to direct the conference.


The Deputy Minister asked agencies that preside over the programme to determine general goals of the programme to well prepare for content, propose aims and methodology to implement these aims. He also asked to expand force for the programme, mobilize researching units under ministries and agencies such as the Ministry of National Defence, the Ministry of Public Security, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Ministry of Resources and Environment to effectively implement the programme with the aims of not only basic research investigation but also the building of a development model for the Central Highlands in the future.

Concluding the working session, the Vietnam Academy of Sciences and Technology that presides over the Central Highlands III programme, is scheduled to cooperate with the Department of Social and Natural Sciences under the Ministry of Sciences and Technology to organize a conference with relevant ministries and agencies to implement the programme soon.
