MIENTRUNG INSTITUTE FOR SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH (MISR)

• Mientrung Institute for Scientific Research carries out scientific and technological research projects in the fields of biotechnology, chemical technology, geography, geology, environment, agriculture and forestry; organize and participates in scientific conferences, training courses, etc.

 a.    Results of scientific research activities

In the past years, Mientrung Institute for Scientific Research (MISR) has carried out the assigned functions and tasks assigned. Science and technology activities of MISR have gradually affirmed the importance of MISR in association with promoting socio-economic development in the central region. Several main results have been conducted as follows:

-    03 national projects (02 projects finished).
-    03 projects of National Foundation for Science and Technology Development (NAFOSTED)
-    07 projects of Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (VAST)
-    10 projects of provinces (7 projects finished).
-    02 international projects.
-    127 scientific papers and conference papers in national and international journals. Number of papers published in ISI journals are gradually increased year by year.
-    02 monographs, 01 curriculum, 02 patents

b.  Training activities

- In recent years, MISR has focused on training to improve human resources of MISR and 11 staffs have completed the Master"s training program and 04 staffs have completed the Doctoral training program with appropriate fields.

- MISR continues to enhance the training activities and development of human resources at development countries such as Japan, Netherlands, and China. Up to now, 07 staffs of MISR have been participated in  Doctoral training program at Vietnam and abroad.

c, Building infrastructure capacity

As of December 31, 2018, MISR is managing the use of 03 fixed asset items: land use rights at address 321 Huynh Thuc Khang, Hue City; land use right at Dong Luong community, Dong Ha city, Quang Tri province and preparing documents for land use right at An Van Duong new urban area - Zone C - Phu Thuong, Phu Vang, Thua Thien Hue with an area of 1.7 ha.

The investment project to build the MISR at 321 Huynh Thuc Khang, Hue city has been completed and used: including working and research houses (3 floors); one auxiliary block (2 floors); and other ancillary items. The building is suitable with the landscape of the area, ensuring the quality of the works, satisfying the utility and the architectural form.

The project "Building Quang Tri Center for Science and Technology" in Dong Ha city, Quang Tri province has been completed since 2015 with a two-floor house and has a total floor area of 450 m², the height of 11.85 m and a fence system around the land area of 5,498 m²

The investment project of Biological equipment and devices at MISR has been implementing, including modern research equipment and devices in order to carry out services of scientific research in the field of biology and chemistry in the central region of Vietnam.

d, International cooperation

MISR continue to strengthen international cooperation and many staffs of MISR have studied, visited as well as scientific exchanged with scientists at different international organizations and universities in Taiwan, Japan, Korea, China, Germany, the Netherlands, and the United States. In addition, MISR has signed cooperation agreements with Osaka University, Japan and the Faculty of Pharmacy, Chungnam National University in order to develop and strengthen the MISR’s international cooperation. MISR has also participated in implementing scientific research programs between the two international partners, take advantages of international partners in training and developing the human resources of MISR.

e, Other information

MISR has built a good relationship with central coastal provinces, universities and scientific and technological training centers in the region. Organization of MISR is stable gradually; scientific staffs are developing; researching equipment, devices and facilities are also improved in order to demands for scientific and technological activities, solving practical problems of the central region.
The research results in recent years have gradually improved in terms of quality and quantity, the scale of projects is also getting bigger and bigger, creating premises for building a long-term development strategy of MISR.

With a geographical location located in the Central region, rich in natural potential, MISR recognizes that discovery and exploit this region’s potential are a key task in order to continue to improve the quality and number of research projects to contribute in the socio-economic development of the central region.

Achievements reveal that MISR has been developing and improving research capacity, deserving to be a key research unit of the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology in the central coastal region.
