Mid-year review and implementation of tasks for the second half of 2024 by the Trade Union of the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology
During the first half of 2024, the VAST Trade Union promptly implemented directives from the Academy Party Committee and leadership, and the Vietnam Public Employees’ Union. It organized and launched various emulation movements, fostering a united working environment and encouraging staff and union members to actively engage in innovative practices, improving the quality of scientific research, and achieving many commendable accomplishments. Some of the highlights include: The VAST Trade Union mobilized its affiliated unions to participate in online competitions such as the "Understanding the Resolutions of the Trade Union Congress and the Actions of Union Members and Workers" organized by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, and the "Understanding Science and Technology Policies and Laws" competition organized by the Ministry of Science and Technology. The VAST Trade Union won third place as a collective and 14 individual awards, including 2 first prizes, 3 second prizes, 5 third prizes, and 4 consolation prizes. In the emulation movement among female public servants, Associate Professor Dr. Dao Viet Ha, Director of the Institute of Oceanography, was honored as one of the two female scientists to receive the 2023 Kovalevskaia Award and as one of the 10 individuals recognized in the "Vietnam Glory" program. Dr. Nguyen Thi Kim Thanh from the Institute of Physics was honored with the 2024 Ta Quang Buu Award. Additionally, in response to the sports festival organized by the Vietnam Public Employees’ Union to celebrate the 30th anniversary of its establishment and the 95th anniversary of the Vietnam Trade Union, the VAST Trade Union’s team won three silver medals and one bronze medal in table tennis, four bronze medals in badminton, and a style award in football.
During the first quarter review meeting, the VAST Trade Union also presented awards from the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor and the Vietnam Public Employees’ Union to outstanding collectives and individuals. These included: The Certificate of Merit from the Executive Committee of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor to 1 collective and 1 individual; a Flag of Emulation and Certificates of Merit from the Vietnam Public Employees’ Union to three collectives (one Flag of Emulation, two Certificates of Merit) and 14 individuals; the "Face of the Year 2023" award to four outstanding individuals.

During the mid-year review meeting, the VAST Trade Union Executive Committee awarded the Certificate of Merit from the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Public Employees’ Union to one collective and six individuals; the Certificate of Merit from the Executive Committee of the VAST Trade Union to 25 collectives and 57 female individuals for their outstanding achievements in the "Good at Work, Good at Home" emulation movement in 2023.
