Meeting with Mr. Stephane Vesval – Vice President and General Manager of Government Satellite Systems, Airbus Group

Also attending the meeting were Mr. Francois Roye – Business Director of Government Satellite Systems at Airbus Group – along with representatives from the Department of Planning and Finance, the Department of International Cooperation, and the Vietnam Space Center (VNSC) under VAST.

Overview of the meeting

During the meeting, both parties exchanged updates regarding the replacement program for the VNREDSat-1 satellite and discussed the upcoming steps for implementation. The two sides affirmed their commitment to maintaining close coordination, continuing technical exchanges, and completing the necessary procedures to soon bring the program to fruition. On Airbus's side, the corporation’s representatives reaffirmed their commitment to providing continued technical support and collaboration with VAST in maintaining the operation of the VNREDSat-1 satellite.

Additionally, Mr. Stephane Vesval shared information about Airbus’s upcoming launch of the CO3D optical Earth observation satellite, which is scheduled to take place at the end of July 2025. He stated that Airbus would provide VAST with satellite imagery of Vietnamese territory captured by CO3D once the satellite becomes operational.

On behalf of VAST, Professor and Academician Le Truong Giang expressed his gratitude to Airbus for the invitation to attend the CO3D satellite launch ceremony and conveyed his hope to visit and work directly with Airbus in the near future. This visit, he noted, would serve to further strengthen the strategic partnership between the two sides in the field of space technology.
