Meeting to review preliminary design of LotuSat-1 Satellite, Vietnam's first Radar Satellite
The LOTUSat-1 satellite is capable of capturing high-resolution images of the earth in all weather conditions day and night. Image data obtained from the LOTUSat-1 satellite meets the urgent need for image sources, providing accurate and timely information to respond to minimize the impact of natural disasters and climate change, natural resource management and environmental monitoring, serving socio-economic development; deploys and puts into operation the system including Earth Station, Satellite Operation Center, Satellite Data Mining Center and information technology infrastructure; and trains highly qualified human resources through Advanced Satellite Training Course at satellite manufacturing facilities and Satellite Image Data Application Training Course.
Vietnamese delegation and Japanese experts participated in the meeting to review the preliminary design of LOTUSat-1 satellite from October 17 to 24, 2022
Attending the meeting, the Vietnamese delegation included representatives of the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology, representatives of leaders and staff and experts of the Vietnam Space Center. The main content of the meeting was for the parties to review and confirm that the preliminary design of the satellite satisfy all requirements. In addition, this meeting was part of an advanced satellite training course and application of satellite technology from October 2022 to September 2023.
Through this training program, the staff is enhanced in satellite development capacity when participating in the development of LOTUSat-1 satellite. Previously, this staff team directly participated in the development of other satellites under the satellite development roadmap that VNSC has implemented since 2011. The goal of the Center is to master the technology of satellite development, contributing to the implementation of the "Strategy for development and application of space science and technology until 2030" according to Decision 169/QD-TTg dated February 4, 2021 of the Prime Minister.
In 2013, Vietnam Space Center sent 36 staff to participate in the basic satellite training course according to the standard Master's program in Space Technology of 05 universities and institutes with strong space technology industry of Vietnam. As for the practical part, the separate program for the course was "Design, manufacture, assemble and test a 50kg micro satellite", laying the initial foundation to realize the dream of conquering space.
