Meeting to honour trade union officials of Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology in 2025

In line with Conclusion 157-KL/TW dated May 25, 2025, issued by the Politburo on the implementation of the Party’s resolutions and conclusions regarding the streamlining of organisational structure and administrative units, as well as directives from the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour and the Vietnam Public Employees’ Union on restructuring the trade union apparatus under the spirit of Conclusion 157, on June 13, 2025, the Executive Committee of the Trade Union of Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (VAST) held a meeting in the northern region to honour its trade union officials.

The event was attended by Comrade Tran Thi Kim Anh – Vice President of the Vietnam Public Employees’ Union; Prof. Dr. Tran Tuan Anh – Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Vice President of the Academy; former leaders of the Academy’s Trade Union from different periods; Comrade Nguyen Thanh Tam – President of the Academy’s Trade Union; members of the Standing Committee, the Executive Committee, the Inspection Committee of the Academy’s Trade Union; and presidents, vice presidents, and executive members of the trade unions of affiliated units.

The Trade Union of the Academy officially ended its operations on June 20, 2025. Twenty-six affiliated trade unions ended their operations on June 15, 2025. Meanwhile, four trade unions not included in the dissolution group – the Trade Union of the University of Science and Technology of Hanoi, the Trade Union of NEWTATCO, the Trade Union of Netnam Joint Stock Company, and the Trade Union of PIDI Company – will be transferred to the respective sectoral trade unions.

Over the years, the Trade Union of the Academy has continuously innovated its content and modes of operation, effectively fulfilling its role in representing and protecting the lawful rights and interests of workers, improving both their material and spiritual well-being, and fostering creative emulation movements that have contributed meaningfully to the Academy’s political and professional missions. Its achievements are the result of the dedication, intellect, and effort of generations of trade union officials. In recent years, the Academy’s Trade Union has implemented a wide range of meaningful activities, including sports festivals, music and arts competitions, creative movements, social welfare work, staff welfare initiatives, and efforts to build a humane and united working environment for its public employees and staff, as well as active participation in competitions organised by various ministries and departments.

The Academy’s Trade Union has excellently fulfilled its mission and has been recognised by the Party and the State with prestigious awards, including the Third-class Labour Order. For many consecutive years, it has received flags and certificates of merit from the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour and the Vietnam Public Employees’ Union.

On behalf of the Academy’s Party Committee and leadership, Prof. Dr. Tran Tuan Anh expressed gratitude to generations of trade union officials and acknowledged the union’s significant contribution to stabilising the lives of its members and strengthening unity among affiliated units

Comrade Nguyen Thanh Tam – President of the Academy’s Trade Union – remarked: “Although the journey of the Academy’s Trade Union is coming to a close, the values it has built will endure and become lasting memories.”
