JICA delegation visits and works with VAST

On June 16th, 2010; The President of the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (VAST), Prof Chau Van Minh received the delegation of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) led by Mr. Kikuchi Fumio. Also attending the reception were representatives from the Department of International Cooperation, the Institute of Environment Technology, the Vietnam Space Technology Institute, and the Institute of Geography, and officials from the JICA office in Hanoi.

After a warm welcome by Prof Chau Van Minh, Dr. Nguyen Hoai Chau, Head of the Institute of Environment Technology reported results of the second phase of the project: "Intensifying capacity of VAST in protecting water environment" between VAST and JICA.

Speaking at the reception, Mr. Kikuchi Fumio, Director of JICA"s Asia Department applauded achievements of the project and expressed his thanks to VAST for offering opportunities to enable the project to be implemented as planned.

Mr. Kikuchi Fumio stressed that the establishment of two laboratories VILAS - ISO 17025 with their equipment, invested by the capital of the project, will be trust addresses for research and assessment of the environment in Vietnam. 

The President of VAST and the guests discussed orientations for the third phase of the project and expected the two sides to continue to cooperate in the fields of space aviation and climate change in the next period.

JICA delegation"s visit showed the cooperation between VAST and JICA  developing well. A fixed appointment to discuss the establishment of a space research center in July, 2010 showed the relation between VAST and JICA has elevated to a higher level.
