The author group Prof. Dr. Duong Tan Nhut from Tay Nguyen Institute of Scientific Research, Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hoang Thanh Tung from Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology published the book titled "Metal Nanoparticles in Plant Cell, Tissue and Organ Culture" in September 2024 on Springer Publishing House.

The book "Metal Nanoparticles in Plant Cell, Tissue and Organ Culture" includes 15 chapters presenting recent developments in the field of plant biotechnology related to increasing the efficiency of micropropagation for the commercial exploitation of nanomaterials (such as silver, cobalt, copper, zinc, magnesium, silicon, iron, nickel, manganese and selenium nanoparticles). The book covers the concept, preparation and synthesis of metallic and non-metallic nanoparticles, as well as their applications in plant cell, tissue and organ culture.

Metal nanoparticles have attracted considerable attention in many fields, including plant cell, tissue and organ culture. The unique physical, chemical and biological properties of metallic nanoparticles make them attractive for applications in plant science research. Nanomaterials are used as plant growth regulators to improve the quality of plantlets by enhancing in vitro shoot quality, their growth and development both in vitro and ex vitro. Since then, the application of nanomaterials in micropropagation has paved the way for the replacement of conventional culture media with new nanoparticle-based culture media, bringing greater efficiency and simplicity to plant propagation activities. The book discusses the mechanisms, surface sterilization of explants, environmental sterilization, abnormal phenomena, morphology, physiological-biochemical processes and accumulation of secondary compounds of economically valuable plants in culture media supplemented or replaced with metal ions by metal nanoparticles.

This book will be a good reference for teachers, researchers, scientists, capacity builders and policy makers. In addition, it will be a supplementary reading for undergraduate and postgraduate students majoring in agriculture, forestry, ecology, soil science and environmental science.

Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (VAST.TĐ.NANO.04/15-18; NCXS01.03/22-24) and the National Foundation for Science and Technology Development (NAFOSTED) have provided funding for topics in this area for nearly 12 years.
