International Conference on Earth Observations and Natural Hazards 2017
Over the past recent years, natural hazards such as storms, floods, landslides and land erosion have occurred with increasing number and intensity, causing great damage in terms of both people’s lives and property. Specialised knowledge and data on earth observation makes a more and more important contribution to the warning, prevention and mitigation of losses caused by natural disasters.

The achievements of space science and data on earth observations have been used widely throughout the world. International cooperation in sharing experiences and data is becoming increasingly important. The conference was an opportunity to promote international cooperation, share experience, exchange scientific information and foster capacity for parties’ young researchers.
The theme of the conference was earth observation and natural hazards. It is an open forum for scientists to discuss and share scientific arguments for the protection of human life against natural disasters and to help solve the problems facing the earth. More than 60 scientific reports were presented at the conference which focused on geospatial technologies in response to natural disasters such as sensing and applied technology, geospatial technology for natural hazards, the application of integrated RS/GIS/GPS. The reports received attention and discussion from scientists who attended the conference.
During the conference, a memorandum of understanding on cooperation was signed between the Sinotech Engineering Consultancy Company and the Institute of Geography; the Sinotech Engineering Consultancy Company and the Hi-Tech Development Centre; the Sinotech Engineering Consultancy Company and Centre for Vietnam Research and Education Network (Vinaren); the Sinotech Engineering Consultancy Company and Ant.
