| | FUNCTIONS AND TASKS | Institute of Marine Biochemistry is a scientific organization whose functions prescribed by law are to perform the basic research and development, to provide the scientific and technical services, and to provide the advisory services in the field of marine biochemistry.
- Basic research in the fields of marine natural product chemistry, of mangrove and coastal areas and other related fields;
- Searching for the bioactive constituents from the marine and microbial organisms, research on the structure-activity relationship of the studied substances;
- Implementation of the research and application of biotechnology in the field of marine biochemistry and other related fields;
- Implementation of the research on the synthesis, semi-synthesis, and processing of bioactive natural products;
- Implementation of the research on the pharmaceutical synthesis;
- Implementation of the research on the biological diversity of marine system, of mangrove and coastal areas;
- Providing the scientific and technical services regarding marine biochemistry and related areas;
- Implementation of the research on applied technology and development of biological, biochemical and related products;
- International cooperation activities in the field of marine biochemistry.

| ACTIVITIES |
Science and technology activities: Research on the bioactive compounds from the terrestrial and marine organisms; Synthesis and semi-synthesis of materials for pharmaceutical industry; Providing the physiochemical analytical services; International cooperation and scientific training within the scope of organic chemistry. The training code for the PhD in Organic Chemistry Program is 62.44.01.14.

- Implementing 10 national projects, 09 basic research projects and other international/bilateral projects in cooperation with French, Korean, American, Japanese partners.
- 65/11 publications are at the international level (11 SCI papers, 40 SCIE papers).
- Organizing 02 international conferences with the Korean and American partners.
