Institute of Geography to build an observation station for geography and environment of Northern Delta
The side of Thai Binh province attendants, included Mr. Nguyen Hanh Phuc - Chairman of People’s Committee of Thai Binh province and representatives from Department of Natural Resources and Environment, Department of Science and Technology, Thai Binh province, Head of Party Committee, People’s Committee Tien Hai district, Nam Phu commune. As for Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology, Prof. Chau Van Minh, President of Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology; Dr. Nguyen Dinh Ky - Director of Institute of Academics, DSc. Nguyen Van Cu - General Manager of Vietnam Sea and Islands General Department - former Director of Institute of Geography, representatives from PIDI, Board of leaders of Institute of Geography, Trade Union, Youth Union, Institute of Geography and other guests.
The observation station for researching geography and environment of Northern Delta will be built on 20,000m2 land area at Con Vanh, next to Hai Dang Ba Lat station. This is s strategic project in the long-term concerned and invested by leaders of Institute of Geography and Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology of all terms. When put into operation, the station will not only supply observation data about geography and the environment of the Northern Delta but it will also be regarded as the center for receiving and supporting science and technology researches in Tien Hai in particular and Northern Bay in general.
Mr. Nguyen Hanh Phuc, Chairman of Thai Binh People’s Committee delivered his speech at the ceremony
On his arrival, Chairman of People’s Committee of Thai Binh province, Mr. Nguyen Hanh Phuc congratulated the Institute of Geography and thanked leaders of Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology for their concern about and close cooperation with the province in applying and transferring technology and science. Investing to build strategic works helps to empower local positions in the integration and development process. The appearance of observation station for geography and environment of Northern Delta at Con Vanh plays a crucial role as this is the one calling for the project in developing an economic combination along Tien Hai inshore and North. People’s Committee of Thai Binh province and Tien Hai district built and planned Con Vanh into a modern economics-tourism combination, within the project of developing an economic combination inshore in the North Delta.

Expressing his opinions, Prof. Chau Van Minh thought that building the observation station for geography and environment of the Northern Delta is an effective realization of cooperation agreement signed between Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology and Thai Binh province. He believed that the Observation station for researching geography and environment of the Northern Delta to be one of meaning bases for researching natural resources, environment and preventing natural disasters in research radio and stations of Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology throughout the country. Prof. Chau Van Minh sent his grateful thanks to the leader group of Thai Binh for their help in commencement. Simultaneously, he handled responsibility over to the Institute of Geography and PIDI company for the building process, meeting required process, specifications, and beauty of the work.

Dr. Nguyen Dinh Ky, Director of Institute of Geography appreciated the concern paid by leaders of Thai Binh People’s Committee, leaders of Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology and close cooperation of PIDI Company as well we other functional departments and divisions at the local level for investment promotion and construction.
At 9h, on the same day, Dr. Nguyen Dinh Ky - Director of Institute of Geography and leaders of Thai Binh People’s Committee, Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology, PIDI company, Thai Binh Department of Science and Technology, Department of Natural Resources and Environment, Vietnam Sea and Islands General Department all officially launched a commencement for the building Observation station for researching geography and environment of the Northern Delta.
