Institute of Biotechnology - Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology accepts position of Executive General Secretary of ASEAN Network on the use of Microbial Utilization (AnMicro) until 2023
AnMicro (Asean Network on Microbial Utilization; www.anmicro.org) was established on February 21, 2014 with the aim of sharing knowledge on effective management of Microbial Resources, and improving research capacity of researchers and promote sustainable development of microbial resources in Southeast Asia (ASEAN). Over the past eight years, AnMicro has organized 8 Annual Meetings, 4 Microbiological Technology Conferences of ASEAN, and many short and long-term training courses related to the field of microbiology research.
In addition, AnMicro has successfully built the AmiBase Microbial Diversity Database (www.amibase.org), actively supporting researchers in the ASEAN community. AnMicro consists of members of 20 Research Institutes, Universities and Seed Museums from 8 countries, including Thailand, Singapore, Philippines, Myanmar, Malaysia, Indonesia, Cambodia and Vietnam. Currently, the Center for Breeding and Conservation of Microbial Genetic Resources (www.vccm.vast.vn) of the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (VAST), located at the Institute of Biotechnology, is an active participant in the AnMicro's activities.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chu Hoang Ha, Vice President of VAST, Director of Institute of Biotechnology; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phi Quyet Tien, Vice President of VAST, Director of the Center for Breeding and Conservation of Microbial Genetic Resources, and staff from the Center for Breeding and Conservation of Microbial Genetic Resources attended the event.

Speaking at the conference, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chu Hoang Ha affirmed that, with the international cooperation experience and the capacity to conserve microbial genetic and genetic resources of the Center for Breeding and Conservation of Microbial Genetic Resources, the Institute of Biotechnology will continue to promote its achievements and complete tasks of the Executive General Secretary of AnMicro. In order to fulfill its executive role well, the Institute of Biotechnology wishes to continue to receive the support of AnMicro members during the years of undertaking the task. During the discussion at the conference, the Institute of Biotechnology was assigned the task of hosting 02 AnMicro Annual Meetings (in 2022, 2023) and organizing the ASEAN Microbiological Technology Conference in 2023.
