Attending the ceremony were Prof. Dr Chu Hoang Ha – Vice President of VAST and Head of the Institute of Biology; Mr David John Whitehead – Chairman of Board of Directors of Mavin Group; Mr Dao Manh Luong – General Director of Mavin Group; along with leaders of affiliated units from both sides, and scientists and experts in the fields of biotechnology, agriculture and food.

Overview of the signing ceremony
In his opening remarks, Prof. Dr Chu Hoang Ha emphasised: “Today’s signing ceremony marks the outcome of positive discussions and cooperation between the Institute of Biology and Mavin Group, reflecting a shared strategic vision of connecting scientific research with practical production, toward advanced technology application and sustainable development.”
The Institute of Biology was established through the merger of several research institutions, including the Institute of Biotechnology, the Institute of Ecology and Biological Resources, and the Institute of Genome Research. With nearly 400 scientists, including 8 Professors, 31 Associate Professors and 125 PhDs, the Institute is one of Vietnam’s leading research centres in biology and biotechnology. It carries out key national projects in biotechnology, vaccines, molecular biology and other interdisciplinary applications.
Mavin Group is a Vietnam–Australia joint venture with more than 21 years of experience in the agriculture–food sector. The Group has developed a closed value chain “from farm to table” and is a pioneer in green growth, emission reduction and the application of high technology in modern agricultural production.

Leaders of both sides at the signing ceremony
Under the terms of the agreement, the two parties will strengthen cooperation in research, technology transfer, testing and development of biological products applied in agriculture, particularly in the following areas: selection, conservation and development of livestock gene resources; application of biotechnology in animal husbandry, veterinary medicine and production of biological products; research and development of new-generation vaccines, reverse genetics technology, viral vectors, specific antibodies and rapid disease diagnostics; application of microbiological technology in livestock waste treatment and agricultural by-product recycling towards circular, green and sustainable agriculture.
During the ceremony, Mr David John Whitehead expressed his honour at cooperating with one of Vietnam’s leading research institutions: “We believe that today’s signing marks the beginning of an effective and long-term partnership between Mavin Group and the Institute of Biology, together working towards breakthrough achievements in biotechnology, vaccines, biological medicines and the development of high-quality human resources for modern agriculture.”
After the signing ceremony, the Mavin Group delegation visited the Institute’s Key Laboratories for Vaccine and Applied DNA Technology, and for Fermentation Technology and Biochemical Engineering of Bioactive Compounds.
