| | | FUNCTIONS AND TASKS | Functions:
- Organizing basic research and applied research in the field of Physics
- Advising, assessing, and realizing the projects in the related fields
- Training, educating, and improving the level of the researchers in science and technology, specializing in Physics
Tasks:
- Realizing basic research on theories in the fields of: theoretical condensed- matter physics, quantum optics and quantum information processing.
- Carrying out scientific studies to effects of solar activity and solar radiation to the Earth, the relation between low-altitude and high-altitude atmosphere, the physical processes in the equatorial ionosphere; organizing observations of atmospheric and ionospheric characteristic features in South Vietnam
- Realizing research and manufacturing new materials, magnetic material, nano-structured materials, and the application in reality
- Realizing research, designing, and manufacturing electronic equipment, kinds of measurement machines and automatic equipment, and the application in different fields. Verifying and correcting measurement equipment
- Realizing research, designing, and manufacturing equipments in the field clean and renewable energy to serve the economic-social development
- Studying the specific characteristics of hydrology and dynamics on the river, on coastal zone and continental shelf.
- Advising, assessing, and realizing the constructions and projects in the related fields
- Participating in the training for the officials of physics in the southern region, from technicians to postgraduates
- Organizing and realizing the international cooperation in order to improve the level of officials and the technical facilities for the research and development
- Managing the staff to the assignment of Vietnam Institute of Science and Technology
- Managing the infrastructure and other assets of the Institute

- 672 handheld recorders, recorders and automation control devices (for temperature, air humidity, pH, conductivity, salinity, water-soluble oxygen concentration, TDS, degree indicator) moist wood, ...), rust-proof pipe anti-fouling equipment for many businesses, production facilities, state management agencies, universities and research institutes in many fields such as aquaculture and seafood processing , hydrology, environment, forecasting, calibration, industrial production, printing, storage, transport, irrigation, medicine, biochemistry, ...
- Over 350 bar magnets, 426 magnetic screening devices and magnetic filters in many different forms (hanging, filtering nets, flat plates, zigzag, rotating, drum) for the food processing industry, manure fertilizer, ceramic technology and waste treatment classification
- Research, manufacture and put into operation specialized digital flow meter devices (in service of meteorology and hydrology), equipment has been inspected and met the technical requirements of the Southern Regional Meteorological Station. and prepare to put into the system
