Hanoi University of Science and Technology (USTH) holds opening ceremony of 2020-2021 school year
Attending the opening ceremony, on the side of VAST there were Prof.Acad.Chau Van Minh, President of VAST; Prof.Dr.Phan Ngoc Minh, Vice President of VAST. On the side of the French Embassy, there were Mr. Nicolas Warnery, the French Ambassador to Vietnam; towards USTH, there was Prof. Etienne Saur, main Principal and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dinh Thi Mai Thanh, Principal; representatives of domestic and foreign partner units and all staffs, lecturers, researchers, students and the 11th class freshman of the university.
At the ceremony, Prof. Etienne Saur, Principal, proudly affirmed that the 2019-2020 school year continues to be another successful year for USTH in training human resources for science and technology. USTH has accomplished its goal as an excellent research university by offering a Master’s degree according to European standards together with reputable French universities, as well as implementing research projects nationally and internationally.

In the 2019-2020 school year with many challenges from the Covid-19 epidemic, the school has implemented a variety of training forms, combining online and direct teaching, making the most of technology in teaching and learning.

This year also marks a special step in the school's development when the 2nd - Intergovernmental Agreement signed in 2018 on the development of USTH, was officially approved by the Governments of France and Vietnam. This shows the commitment of the two governments to make USTH an excellent research university, comparable to the leading universities in the region and the world. Especially in the opening ceremony to honor this milestone, USTH announced a new logo, marking the maturity and the next stage of development of the university.

Glad to attend the Opening Ceremony, Prof.Acad.Chau Van Minh, VAST President sent his warm congratulations to USTH. Although the last school year has had many difficulties, the school always promotes well their strength and completes the set out tasks. In terms of training, the school's position is increasingly confirmed and enhanced, reflected in the number of students enrolled in 2020 increasing by 50% compared to 2019. In terms of researching, the quality of research and the number of international publications are constantly increasing, USTH has published 135 articles, of which 93 articles are in SCIE magazine. The school has opened a new training branch, Mechatronic Engineering Technology. Over the past 11 years of construction and development, with the above results, the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology believes that the upcoming 2021-2022 school year will be a year of effort and success for all teachers and students.
Many valuable scholarships for students were also announced by the Hanoi University of Science and Technology at the opening ceremony of the 2020-2021 school year. Whereby, 2 full scholarships worth 294 million VND / scholarship were awarded to 2 students of the Faculty of Aviation; 141 scholarships, each worth 10-40 million VND, were awarded to students with excellent academic achievements. In addition, there are 21 internship scholarships and many valuable scholarships from the support of businesses also awarded to new students with excellent entry points - students with difficult circumstances. The total number of scholarships awarded is up to 4.5 billion VND.
Finally, as is customary for a traditional opening ceremony, Prof. Etienne Saur has beaten the drums of school opening, officially opening a new school year with great excitement and success.
