Female scientists of Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology win many awards at the International Exhibition on Women's Inventions (KIWIE 2024) - Korea
The Center for Science Technology Application and Entrepreneurship (COSTAS) of the Vietnam Association of Intellectual Women (VAFIW) said that recently COSTAS selected and supported 12 inventions of 08 female scientists and research teams attending the Exhibition. The 17th International Women's Invention (KIWIE 2024) from June 20 - 22, 2024 at Kintex, Korea. The activity is within the framework of implementing the Mission "Raising awareness and capacity to use intellectual property tools, innovation in scientific research and production and business for the Vietnamese female intellectual community" under the Intellectual Property Development Program until 2030". This is the second time Vietnamese female scientists directly introduced their inventions at the International Exhibition of Women's Inventions.
KIWIE is the largest annual event for female inventors worldwide organized by the Korean Women Inventors Association (KWIA) since 2008 with support and coordination with the Korean Intellectual Property Office (KIPO), World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and ministries. KIWIE 2024 has attracted nearly 20 participating countries such as Poland, China, Korea, Indonesia, Iran, Malaysia, Mongolia, Russia, Peru, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Tajikistan, Vietnam, Yemen,... introducing more than 400 inventions and technology with the theme “See, experience and buy women's inventions in one place”. KIWIE 2024 combined with the IP5 Conference is considered an opportunity to meet domestic and foreign women who have had their applications accepted or have been granted titles to protect intellectual property rights such as inventions and solutions. utility and industrial design at Kintex, Korea.

At KIWIE 2024, the Vietnamese delegation had 10 scientists participating with 12 inventions and useful solutions from many fields and was honored to win 13 prizes, including 1 second largest prize (Semi-Grand Prize), 01 special prize. 04 Gold Medals, 05 Silver Medals, 02 Bronze Medals. As for Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology, female scientists from the following units: Institute of Materials Science, Institute of Genome Research, Institute of Marine Biochemistry and Institute of Chemistry were honored to win 05 awards including 02 Gold Medals, 02 Medals. Silver medal and 01 special prize of the Polish Association of Inventors and Rationalizers. Specifically:
1. Associate Professor, PhD. NCVCC. Ha Phuong Thu, Director of the Center for Advanced Medical and Biomedical Materials, Institute of Materials Science - Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology and the research team won the Gold Medal with Patent No. 22424 by the Vietnam Intellectual Property Office. issued on October 30, 2019 on "Method of microencapsulating Curcumin with Fucoidan extracted from brown seaweed (Laminaria japonica Aresch) and Saponin from Panax notogingseng (Burk.) FH Chen) and nano system (Fucoidan- Gingseng-Curcumin) obtained by this method”. This invention has been transferred technology and raw materials to CVI Pharmaceutical and Cosmetic Joint Stock Company. A commercial product called Curmagold Care is used in the support and treatment of cancer patients.
Patent No. 31505 issued by the Vietnam National Office of Intellectual Property on March 3, 2022 on "Method of producing purple high-standard Nano (Morinda officinalis How) and purple high-standard Nano system obtained by this method" won the Silver Medal. The research team includes: Associate Professor, PhD. NCVCC. Ha Phuong Thu, MSc. Pharmacist Tran Thi Lan Anh, PhD. Pharmacist Do Hai Doan, PhD. Le Thi Thu Huong, MSc. Pharmacist Dong Thi Nham, MSc. Pharmacist Phan Ke Son.
2. The research team of the Institute of Genome Research - Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology won the Gold Medal with the invention "Biologically pure Talaromyces sp.DC1 mushroom strain" which was accepted as valid application No. 97650/QD-SHTT dated November 13, 2023 from the Vietnam Intellectual Property Office and won a Special Award from the Polish Association of Inventors and Rationalizers. The research team includes: Prof. Dr. Nguyen Huy Hoang, PhD. Nguyen Duc Quan, MSc. Tran Thi Huong Giang, PhD. Nguyen Ngoc Lan, PhD. Nguyen Thi Kim Lien, MSc Nguyen Van Tung, PhD. Nguyen Thi Thanh Ngan.
3. The research team of the Institute of Marine Biochemistry, Institute of Chemistry - Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology won the Silver Medal with Useful Solution No. 1627 issued by the Vietnam Intellectual Property Office on "Production process of Nano products Chitosan containing Turmeric essential oil was issued under Decision No. 1991/QD-SHTT, dated January 1, 2018 of the Vietnam Intellectual Property Office. The research team includes: Associate Professor, PhD. Nguyen Thi Kim Cuc, Professor, PhD. Pham Viet Cuong, MSc. Tran Thi Kim Dung, PhD. Vu Thi Thu Huyen, MSc. Nguyen Mai Anh, PhD. Nguyen Thi Ngoan.
