Exchange to promote the implementation of the LIA Joint Laboratory Project between VAST and CNRS
The delegation also had Dr. Le Quynh Lien, Head of International Cooperation Department; Dr. Nguyen Hoang Duong, Deputy Head of the International Cooperation Department; Assoc. Dr. Tran Dinh Phong, Vice Rector of the University of Science and Technology of Hanoi (USTH); Mr. Luc Le Calvez – Head of Research, Innovation and Technology Transfer, USTH; and leading representatives of some specialized research institutes of VAST.
Working session at VAST
The French Republic in general and CNRS in particular are long-term, regular and effective traditional partners of the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology. The two sides have prepared to enter the 40th year of their sincere and deep cooperation and development relationship.
Vice President of VAST, Prof. Dr. Chu Hoang Ha at the meeting
At the meeting, the two sides reviewed the research cooperation process, with 200 joint research projects/contents and especially training through academic exchanges, organizing seminars, scientific seminars, building joint research groups, hundreds of PhDs and Masters, many of whom have been holding leadership positions of the Institutes under VAST.
GS. Dominique Baillargeat, CNRS Country Manager for Southeast Asia
The LIA Laboratory project is one of the successful models between the two sides. Vietnam has deployed 5/7 LIA in Southeast Asia, VAST is currently a LIA partner in the fields of corrosion of materials, nanomagnetic and semiconductor, natural compound chemistry, tropical ecology. Especially in the field of Mathematics, on the basis of LIA Format Vietnam for the period 2011-2021, in August, VAST and CNRS signed an Agreement to implement "Vietnam - France International Research Laboratory on Mathematics and Applications". This is a new step in developing a new level of cooperation from a joint research group of LIA to an IRL research unit, connecting more cooperation between scientists of the two sides.
Research cooperation between the two sides has the opportunity to further strengthen with the participation of USTH or Vietnam - France University, a symbol between Vietnam and France. Currently, CNRS scientists have been actively participating in research and teaching at USTH. Through this working session, the two sides hope to continue to promote cooperation, combined with the source of CNRS staff who are coordinating teaching and research, and a large number of undergraduate and graduate students so that they can continue to work together. In the coming time, not only will the field of Mathematics develop cooperation in the form of IRL units, but other fields such as chemistry, ecology, materials, etc. will also have such advancements.
