Developing a Cooperation Roadmap Between Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology and AFK Sistema Corporation, Russian Federation

Building on the Cooperation Agreement signed in early 2026 with AFK Sistema Corporation, Russian Federation (AFK Sistema), during their working visit to the Russian Federation, Prof. Dr. Tran Tuan Anh – Vice President of Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (VAST), alongside leaders from the Institute of Materials Science, the Institute of Physics, and the Institute of Energy Science and Environmental Technology, directly conducted site visits and held exchanges with various technology organizations under AFK Sistema.

The VAST delegation visited the Skolkovo Innovation Center and the Rudnevo Industrial Park, visiting Sputnix Company, the Hydrogen Technology Center, and Aeromax Company, as well as holding working sessions with Cicada8 and VisionLabs. The visit aimed to learn about the Corporation's key technological strengths and study the organizational model of its technology ecosystem - specifically how Russian enterprises build seamless chains from research and development (R&D) to testing, deployment, and commercialization of technology products.

While VisionLabs demonstrated directions in artificial intelligence (AI) and recognition systems applied in smart cities, digital identification, and data analytics, Aeromax reflected how UAV (unmanned aerial vehicle) technology is deployed in logistics, infrastructure monitoring, and territorial management on an industrial scale. Meanwhile, the Hydrogen Technology Center showcased a long-term investment focus on hydrogen technology and new energy systems, whereas Sputnix and Cicada8 opened up approaches to small satellites, IoT, and security solutions for digital infrastructure and strategic technology systems.

Working with AFK Sistema was part of a series of activities by the VAST delegation in the Russian Federation. Earlier, Vice President Tran Tuan Anh and the delegation attended the 1st BRICS Quantum Technologies Forum; held working sessions with the National Research University "Moscow Power Engineering Institute" (MPEI) and the Russian Science Foundation (RSF) to exchange ideas on cooperative directions in quantum technology, high-tech engineering training, energy, and human resource development for strategic technologies, as well as methods to call for and mobilize resources for implementation.

From initial orientation discussions in early 2026 to practical working activities in the Russian Federation, cooperation between VAST and AFK Sistema Corporation is gradually taking shape, linking scientific research with technological deployment, enterprise engagement, and human resource training. This opens up new avenues of cooperation in technology development between the two countries, contributing to fostering the traditional friendship between Vietnam and Russia.
