Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam provides farewell reception for USTH Rector

On August 20th, at the Office of the Government, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam received Prof. Patrick Boiron, Rector of the University of Science and Technology of Hanoi (USTH), on the ocassion of the end of his working term in Vietnam.

Attending at the reception were Professor and Academic Chau Van Minh, Party Central Committee member and President of the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (VAST); Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ninh Khac Ban, Head of VAST Department of International Cooperation; and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dinh Thi Mai Thanh, USTH Vice Rector.

Congratulating Prof. Patrick Boiron on his successful working term at USTH, Deputy PM Vu Duc Dam expressed his delight at the success of USTH in training human resources for Vietnam’s science and technology. The Deputy Prime Minister appreciated the positive contribution and important role of Prof. Patrick Boiron during his working time as USTH Rector. The professor has made great contribution to building and developing the university, especially the promotion of 7 new training programs, including aviation engineering – a model strictly linking the university and businesses. Deputy PM Vu Duc Dam also expressed his pleasure with USTH’s great efforts in developing scientific and technological research, establishing 5 international laboratories and practical laboratories, and mobilizing many international sources.


Thanking Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam for the reception, Prof. Patrick Boiron expressed his deep appreciation for the support of the Government of Vietnam and VAST over the past years, saying he hoped that the Government of Vietnam will continue to go along with USTH’s development, especially in the upcoming plans, such as the expansion of the university using loan from ADB, the completion of the Intergovernmental Agreement which is expected to be signed in November 2018 during the French Prime Minister"s visit to Vietnam. Prof. Patrick Boiron also expressed his affection for the beautiful country and hospitable people of Vietnam, confirming that he will continue to support and cooperate with USTH.


Deputy PM Vu Duc Dam once again thanked Prof. Patrick Boiron for his 3-year active work in Vietnam which contributed to help USTH become a “unique model” with an important role in Vietnam’s higher education system. “As USTH is on the way of development, it needs to focus on training human resources for sectors with the support of businesses, as well as human resources in artificial intelligence and medical technology," said Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam.
