In the framework of a visit to Vietnam, on March 12th, a delegation from the Science Council of Asia (SCA) and Science Council of Japan (SCJ) led by Prof. Yoshiko Shirata, general secretary and executive director of the SCA, paid a working visit to the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (VAST). Prof. Chau Van Minh, VAST president; Assoc. Prof. Ninh Khac Ban, head of Department for International Cooperation and representatives from the Institute of Environmental Technology, the Institute of Ecology and Biological Resources, the Institute of Chemistry and the Institute of Geography all took part in a reception for the delegation. At the reception, the two sides briefly introduced their missions, tasks, potentials in science and technology, and achievements, as well as international cooperation activities and key research orientations in the near future. Prof. Minh said that VAST would like to become a regular partner of SCJ and SCA. Concluding the working session, Prof. Minh appreciated the working visit of the delegation and hoped that the visit would open prospects for official cooperation between VAST and SCA and SCJ.
