Decision of Prime Minister appointing VAST Vice President
The event drew the participation of Prof. Chau Van Minh, member of the Party Central Committee, secretary of VAST Party Committee, president of VAST; Prof. Nguyen Dinh Cong, Vice President of VAST; leaders of units helping the president of VAST; directors and vice directors of institutes under VAST; directors and vice directors of centers and publishers under VAST; Standing Committee of VAST Party Committee; the Executive Committee of Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union; the Executive Committee of VAST Trade Union; and VAST staff.
The event also drew the participation of Deputy Minister of Home Affairs, Tran Anh Tuan; Assoc. Prof. Pham Van Duc, Vice President of Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences; representatives from the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Party Central Committee Commission for Mass Organization, the Office the Party Central Committee, the office of the Government and the Ministry of Public Securities.

Deputy Minister of Home Affairs, Tran Anh Tuan announced Decision No. 1245/QĐ-TTg, dated July 24th 2014, of the Prime Minister on a time-limited appointment for Phan Van Kiem, Head of the Department of Organization and Personnel, VAST to be Vice President of VAST.
Addressing the ceremony, President Minh said that Mr. Kiem is a cadre who grows from grassroots; He used to participate in the army, then became a researcher; He worked as Head of General Management Room of a grassroots institute, Deputy Head of the Department of Organization and Personnel, Head of the Department of Organization and Personnel, and Head of Organizing Board of VAST Party Committee. President Minh, appreciated Mr. Kiem’s contributions and hoped that Mr. Kiem would continue promoting his responsibility and contributing new initiatives for VAST’s development and implementing his assigned tasks well.

Expressing the honour of receiving the new mission, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phan Van Kiem, expressed his deep gratitude to the Prime Minister, the Party Central Committee Commission for Mass Organization, the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Party Committee of Central Agencies, the Office the Party Central Committee and relevant agencies for the appointment. He also thanked the leadership of VAST led by President Minh and leaders of institutes under VAST to trust him. He showed his determination to try his best to study and bring all his abilities, wisdom and strength accompany with VAST leadership to complete assigned tasks to develop VAST. He would like to receive help from ministries, committees, and central agencies, VAST Party Standing Committee, VAST Leadership and leaders of units under VAST and the staff from VAST to help him completed his duties.
On this occasion, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phan Van Kiem, newly appointed Vice President of VAST, received congratulations and flowers of VAST Leadership and his friends, colleagues and representatives at the ceremony.
