Conference summarizing results of science and technology cooperation in 2018 - 2022 between Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology and Ninh Thuan provincial People's Committee, and signing a cooperation agreement until 2030
Attending the conference on the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology side were Prof. Acad. Chau Van Minh, Member of the Party Central Committee, VAST President; On the side of Ninh Thuan provincial People's Committee, there were comrades Tran Quoc Nam, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Tran Minh Luc, Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; Nguyen Long Bien, member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Representatives of relevant departments.
After 5 years of operation, the coordination on science and technology between VAST and Ninh Thuan provincial People's Committee has been implemented in many diverse forms, with content focusing on solving practical problems, associated with provincial socio-economic development. Of the six science and technology tasks implemented under the coordinated program, up to now, 2 tasks have been accepted, 3 tasks are being implemented, 1 task has been approved for implementation in the period of 2024 - 2025. The highlight result are the Project "Developing Ninh Thuan to become a Renewable Energy Center of the country" implemented in the period of 2019 - 2020; "Research to develop a nomination dossier for Ninh Thuan Biosphere Reserve, taking Nui Chua National Park as the core area" - this is the scientific basis for building the dossier and has been recognized by UNESCO as Nui Chua Biosphere Reserve in 2021.

Speaking at the Conference, Mr. Tran Quoc Nam, Chairman of the Ninh Thuan provincial People's Committee said that the province has the potential in sunshine and win favorable for renewable energy development and has also set the goal of becoming one of the largest renewable and clean energy centers in the country. Besides, the province also has the potential to develop the marine economy and develop specific agriculture on the basis of high technology application. The province has a desire to explore its potential and promote its strengths from differences to achieve the goal of entering the group of well-developed provinces in the country.
Over the past 5 years, coordination activities between VAST and the province on science and technology have been implemented in many diverse forms, via the Cooperation Program. Therefore, science and technology resources have been mobilized from VAST and the province. Many practical problems from local production and life have been solved, contributing to the overall development of the province.
In order for the province's science, technology and innovation activities to continue to develop and truly become an important driving force in promoting local socio-economic development, the province urgently needs the cooperation and support of science and technology units, scientists and experts throughout the country, especially of the country's leading science and technology agencies such as VAST.
Prof. Acad. Chau Van Minh, Member of the Party Central Committee, VAST President said that in the coming period, the Academy wants to cooperate with the province to build science and technology potential, focusing on building and implementing a number of science and technology tasks in the province's strong technology fields such as energy industry, technology serving the development of agricultural sectors, biodiversity protection and solving challenges in natural disaster prevention and conservation, environmental protection during climate change; cooperation in training and fostering science and technology human resources, giving priority to fostering and training highly qualified experts according to the province's requirements; exchanging and updating science and technology information, especially new technology trends applied in production, connecting and spreading applied research results to businesses in the province.
Participants listened to presentations from delegates from Institutes and Centers under VAST and leaders of provincial departments and agencies on solutions to improve the effectiveness of cooperation between VAST and Ninh Thuan province; the announcement of the content of the cooperation agreement on science and technology between the Provincial People's Committee and VAST for the period up to 2030.
