On March 7, 2025, Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (VAST) held a conference to implement the Decisions on the arrangement, organization of the apparatus and personnel work of VAST.

Attending the conference were Prof. Acad. Chau Van Minh - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Party Committee, President of Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology; Mr. Pham Tuan Huy – Standing Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee; Vice Presidents of VAST: Prof. Tran Tuan Anh; Prof. Acad. Le Truong Giang; Prof. Chu Hoang Ha; Comrades in the Standing Committee of the Party Committee of VAST; Members of the Steering Committee for the implementation of Resolution 18/NQ-TW of VAST; Leaders of professional units assisting the President of VAST; Leaders of the Office of the Party Committee; Chairman of the Trade Union; Chairman of the Veterans Association; Secretary of the Youth Union; Leaders and Party committees of units subject to arrangement, consolidation and merger.

Overview of the Conference

The conference implemented the Decisions on arrangement, consolidation, merger and reorganization of units; Decision on the Regulation on organization of operation of units; Decision on Party organizational arrangement; Decisions on the work of leading cadres, decisions on the Party committee and the Inspection Committee, titles in the Party committees of affiliated units. Institute of Chemistry

Decision 313/QD-VHL dated March 1, 2025, President of VAST decided to merge Institute of Chemistry of Natural Products Chemistry and Institute of Marine Biochemistry into Institute of Chemistry; The decision becomes effective from March 15, 2025.

Decision 268-QD/DU dated 01/3/2025, the Executive Committee of the Party Committee of VAST decided to establish the Party Committee of Institute of Chemistry as a grassroots Party Committee under the Party Committee of Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology, on the basis of merging the Party Cell of Institute of Chemistry of Natural Products Chemistry and the Party Cell of Institute of Marine Biochemistry into the Party Committee of Institute of Chemistry. The Party Committee of Institute of Chemistry consists of 6 affiliated branches with 99 Party members.

Decision 307/QD-VHL dated March 1, 2025, President of VAST decided to merge Institute of Biotechnology, Institute of Genome Research and Institute of Ecology and Biological Resources into Institute of Biology; The decision becomes effective from March 15, 2025.

Decision 274-QD/DU dated March 1, 2025, the Executive Committee of the Party Committee of VAST decided to establish the Party Committee of Institute of Biology on the basis of merging the Party Committee of Institute of Biotechnology, the Party Committee of Institute of Ecology and Biological Resources and the Party Cell of Institute of Genome Research; The Party Committee of Institute of Biology consists of 9 branches with 154 party members.

Institute of Earth Sciences

Decision 325/QD-VHL dated March 1, 2025, President of VAST decided to merge Institute of Geology, Institute of Marine Geology and Geophysics, Institute of Geography and Institute of Geophysics into Institute of Earth Sciences; The decision become effective from March 15, 2025.

Decision 270-QD/DU dated March 1, 2025, the Executive Committee of the Party Committee of VAST decided to establish the Party Committee of Institute of Earth Sciences on the basis of merging the Party Committee of Institute of Geography, the Party Cell of Institute of Geology, the Party Cell of Institute of Geophysics and the Party Cell of Institute of Geology and Marine Geophysics; The Party Committee of Institute of Earth Sciences consists of 11 branches with 117 Party members.

Institute of Science and Technology for Energy and Environment

Decision 319/QD-VHL dated March 1, 2025, the President of VAST decided to merge Institute of Marine Environment and Resources into Institute of Science and Technology for Energy and Environment; The decision becomes effective from March 15, 2025.

Decision 272-QD/DU dated March 1, 2025, the Executive Committee of the Party Committee of VAST decided to establish the Party Committee of Institute of Science and Technology for Energy and Environment on the basis of merging the Branch of Marine Environment and Resources; The Party Committee of Institute of Science and Technology for Energy and Environment consists of 8 branches with 110 Party members.

Institute of Materials Science

Decision 317/QD-VHL dated March 1, 2025, the President of VAST decided to merge Institute of Tropical Engineering into Institute of Materials Science; The decision becomes effective from March 15, 2025.

Decision 273-QD/DU dated March 1, 2025, the Executive Committee of the Party Committee of VAST decided to establish the Party Committee of Institute of Materials Science on the basis of merging the Branch of Institute of Tropical Engineering into the Party Committee of Institute of Materials Science; The Party Committee of Institute of Materials Science consists of 6 branches with 104 Party members.

Decision 340/QD-VHL dated March 1, 2025, the President of VAST decided to arrange the Institute of Information Technology on the basis of merging the functions and tasks in the field of information technology of Institute of Applied Informatics and Mechanics; The decision becomes effective from March 15, 2025.

Decision 277-QD/DU dated March 1, 2025, the Executive Committee of the Party Committee of VAST decided to establish the Party Committee of Institute of Information Technology on the basis of reorganizing the Party Committee of Institute of Information Technology and the Party Cell of Institute of Applied Informatics and Mechanics; The Party Committee of Institute of Information Technology consists of 5 branches with 49 party members.

Institute of Life Sciences

Decision 309/QD-VHL dated March 1, 2025, the President of VAST decided to merge Institute of Tropical Biology and the Tay Nguyen Institute of Scientific Research into Institute of Life Sciences; The decision becomes effective from March 15, 2025.

Decision 275-QD/DU dated March 1, 2025, the Executive Committee of the Party Committee of VAST decided to establish Center for Scientific Data and Information Party Cell on the basis of reorganizing the Party Cell of Institute of Scientific Information; The Party Cell of Center for Scientific Data and Information consists of 10 Party members.

Institute of Mechanics

Decision 341/QD-VHL dated March 1, 2025, the President of VAST decided to arrange the Institute of Mechanics on the basis of merging the functions and tasks in the field of mechanics of Institute of Applied Informatics and Mechanics; The decision becomes effective from March 15, 2025.

Decision 278-QD/DU dated March 1, 2025, the Executive Committee of the Party Committee of VAST decided to establish the Party Committee of Institute of Mechanics on the basis of reorganizing the Party Cell of Institute of Mechanics and the Party Cell of Institute of Applied Informatics and Mechanics; The Party Committee of Institute of Mechanics consists of 3 branches with 34 party members.
