Conference of 22nd Executive Committee of Party Organisation of Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology: Review of first-half results and key tasks for second half of 2025

On June 27, 2025, the Party Organisation of Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (VAST) convened its 22nd Executive Committee Conference to review the Party’s work in the first half of the year and to outline key tasks and solutions for the second half of 2025.

The conference was chaired by Comrade Chau Van Minh, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Party Committee, and President of the Academy. Attending were members of the Executive Committee, the VAST Party Committee Commission for Inspection, and Secretaries of affiliated Party organisations, along with representatives from the Party Central Committee Commission for Communications, Education and Mass Mobilization, the Central Commission for Mass Mobilisation, the Party Central Committee Commission for Inspection, and the Party Central Committee Commission for Interior Affairs.

In his opening remarks, Comrade Chau Van Minh emphasised that under the leadership of the Central Steering Committee and the Government Steering Committee, the Party Committee and leadership of VAST had effectively carried out the organisational restructuring and consolidation of the Party apparatus within the Academy. The Academy also proactively directed Party congresses at all levels, in accordance with Directive No. 35-CT/TW dated June 14, 2024 (now Directive No. 45-CT/TW dated April 14, 2025) of the Politburo and Plan No. 07-KH/DU dated April 29, 2025 of the Government Party Committee, to prepare for the first Party Congress of the Government Party Organisation, term 2025–2030. As of May 29, 2025, the Academy’s Party Committee had successfully directed congresses in all 27 affiliated Party organisations (including 15 holding congresses with four agenda items and 12 with two agenda items).

The conference discussed the achievements in the first half of 2025, identified shortcomings in leadership and implementation, particularly regarding organisational restructuring, and proposed key solutions to ensure effective completion of tasks in the second half of the year.

In the first half of the year, the Party Committee led the Academy in achieving significant results in political tasks; scientific research; training of scientific and technological personnel; technology transfer and application of research outcomes to production and daily life; international cooperation; organisation and personnel work; inspection and supervision; digital transformation; and implementation of key Party Central Resolutions (notably Resolutions 18-NQ/TW, 45-NQ/TW, 57-NQ/TW, 59-NQ/TW, 66-NQ/TW, and 68-NQ/TW). It also directed Party building work, inspection and supervision work; leadership of communications, education - mass mobilization work and socio-political organizations; leadership and direction of Party Congresses at all levels and preparation work for the 9th Congress of the Academy Party Committee, term 2025 - 2030.

Delegates contributed numerous opinions and voted to approve the core contents of the reports on first-half results, second-half tasks, the mid-term review of inspection and supervision, and the draft 2026 state budget estimate for the Academy. 

The conference also heard reports from advisory bodies on preparations for the upcoming 9th Party Congress and the summary of the implementation of Resolution 18-NQ/TW (6th Plenum, 12th Central Committee) on further renovating and streamlining the political system for greater effectiveness.

In his closing speech, on behalf of the Standing Committee and the Academy’s leadership, Comrade Chau Van Minh expressed gratitude to the Executive Committee members for their unity, effort, and determination in effectively leading and implementing the assigned tasks during the 2020–2025 term, especially in advancing the organisational restructuring under Resolution 18-NQ/TW.

He called on Executive Committee members to continue fulfilling their assigned responsibilities, focus on accomplishing key political tasks in the second half of 2025, address urgent and important assignments, contribute collective wisdom to develop and finalise major proposals to be submitted to the Politburo and Secretariat in 2025, and accelerate the organisational restructuring process to ensure stable and orderly operations. He also stressed the importance of continued thorough preparation for the 9th Party Congress of the Academy for the 2025–2030 term.
