Comrade Vu Thanh Mai Appointed Vice President of Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology
Overview of the Conference
Pursuant to the Decision, Comrade Vu Thanh Mai ceases to hold the position of Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission and is mobilized and appointed to hold the position of Vice President of Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology. Concurrently, the Secretariat designated Comrade Vu Thanh Mai to join the Executive Committee and Standing Committee of the Party Committee of Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology for the 2025–2030 term.
Comrade Tran Hong Thai, Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Head of the Central Policy and Strategy Commission, Secretary of the Party Committee, and President of VAST, presided over the conference.

At the conference, VAST President Tran Hong Thai handed over the Decision, extended his congratulations, and expressed high regard for Comrade Vu Thanh Mai's capacity and experience, particularly in Party affairs, communications, and publishing. The VAST President expressed confidence that Comrade Vu Thanh Mai will actively contribute to the Academy's development, while affirming that the leadership and member units will consistently accompany and support him in successfully fulfilling his duties.

In his acceptance speech, Comrade Vu Thanh Mai expressed his deep honor and profound sense of responsibility upon being entrusted with this new task by the Politburo and the Secretariat. He expressed sincere gratitude for the attention and trust of the Central leadership, as well as the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission, and welcomed the warm reception and partnership from the leadership collective, scientists, cadres, public employees, and workers of VAST. In his new capacity, he committed to working with a spirit of responsibility, receptivity, and sincerity; upholding unity, honoring intellect, respecting science, and encouraging innovation; while working alongside VAST leadership to foster a favorable environment for scientific personnel to realize their talents and contribute to the development of the Academy and the nation.

The consolidation of VAST's executive leadership contributes to strengthening the Academy's leadership, direction, and operational management capacities in the new era, meeting the demands of implementing tasks related to science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation.
| Comrade Vu Thanh Mai was born in 1973, hailing from Nam Dinh Province (now Ninh Binh Province); he holds a Doctorate in Physics and an Advanced Level in Political Theory. Throughout his career, Comrade Vu Thanh Mai has held various positions, including: Member of the Central Inspection Commission of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union; Deputy Head and Head of the Central Youth Union's School Youth Board; and Standing Vice President of the Central Vietnam Students' Association. From April 2023 to August 2026, he served as Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission. In August 2026, he was appointed Vice President of Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology. |
