Ceremony to open postgraduate training and present graduate degrees for new PhDs 2017

On July 7th, 2017, the Institute for Scientific Information under the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (VAST) held a ceremony to open postgraduate training and present graduate degrees for new PhDs for the first phase of 2017.

The event drew the participation of Prof. Acad. Chau Van Minh, member of the Party Central Committee, secretary of VAST Party Committee and president of VAST; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phan Van Kiem, vice secretary of VAST Party Committee and vice president of VAST; Prof. Dr. Phan Ngoc Minh, vice president of VAST and director of the Institute for Scientific Information; leaders of units and departments under VAST; postgraduates; new PhDs and lecturers.

The overview of the opening ceremony

The Institute for Scientific Information is training nearly 900 postgraduates with 51 doctoral specialties and 14 master specialties. In addition, the institute is assigned to provide post-doctorate training programme to create science and technology human resources for the Academy.

The institute’s training network is closely linked with VAST’s 37 institutes in different fields with 12 faculties. Lecturers are scientists from VAST, including over 200 professors and associate professors, 800 doctors and doctors of science.

Postgraduates at the institute participate in conducting research in modern laboratories, including the system of national key laboratories and VAST-level laboratories. The institute associates research with training in specialized institutes; applies research results in practical teaching, improving the quality of high-quality human resource training in natural science and technology.

Speaking at the ceremony, Prof. Phan Ngoc Minh congratulated new postgraduates in 2017. He also expressed his thank to lecturers and units under VAST for their cooperation in scientific training and research.

Prof. Acad. Chau Van Minh, president of VAST and Prof. Dr. Phan Ngoc Minh, director of the Institute for Scientific Information, conferred degrees to 55 PhDs in the first phase of 2017 and presented them flowers.
