Ceremony of awarding the Labor Medal of the State President to Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology cadres

On June 7th, 2018, at the central building of the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology, a ceremony was held to award the Labor Medal of the State President to Prof. Dr. Sci. Duong Ngoc Hai, former VAST Vice President and Prof. Le Thi Chau, former President of the Tay Nguyen Institute of Scientific Research, for their excellent achievements at work, contributing to the cause of socialism and national defense.

Attending the ceremony were Professor and Academic Chau Van Minh, Party Central Committee member, Secretary of VAST Party Committee and VAST President; VAST Vice Presidents; representatives of the VAST Party Executive Committee, leaders of units assisting VAST President, representatives of the trade union, the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union; representatives of the Graduate University of Science and Technology, and the Tay Nguyen Institute of Scientific Research.

In the formal atmosphere of the ceremony, Mr. Dang Viet Tien, Deputy Head of the Organization and Personnel Department, announced the decisions awarding the Labor Medal of the State President:

Decision 1707/QD-CTN awards the First Class Labor Medal to Prof. Dr. Sci. Duong Ngoc Hai, former VAST Vice President.

Decision 1400/QD-CTN awards the Second Labor Medal to Dr. Le Thi Chau, former Head of Tay Nguyen Institute of Scientific Research.

After that, Professor and Academic Chau Van Minh, authorized by the State President, awarded the Labour Medals and gave congratulatory flowers to the cadres.

Speaking at the ceremony, Professor and Academic Chau Van Minh said that Prof. Dr. Sci. Duong Ngoc Hai started his scientific career at VAST where he has held many important positions such as Deputy Head, Head of the Institute of Mechanics; Head of Department of Technology Application and Deployment; VAST Vice President; and one of the first directors at the Graduate University of Science and Technology. During his career, Prof. Dr. Sci. Duong Ngoc Hai has made important contributions to VAST scientific development in particular and the nation’s science and technology general. Professor and Academic Chau Van Minh expressed his hope that Prof. Dr. Sci. Duong Ngoc Hai would continue to have success on the path of science, as well as in his education and training career.

Talking about Dr. Le Thi Chau, Professor and Academic Chau Van Minh said that she is one of the rare female Heads of the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology. During her working tenure, Dr. Le Thi Chau has led the Tay Nguyen Institute of Scientific Research Institute to many successes, from grassroots institute to national institute. Professor and Academic Chau Van Minh said he hoped that in the future she would make more achievements on the path of scientific research.
