Mr. Etienne ROLLAND-PIEGUE received his PhD in management in 1996 from the Business School for the World (INSEAD) and held many important positions in the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs before becoming a Counselor for Cooperation and Culture of the Embassy of France in Vietnam from 2017 to 2021.
Mr. Eric MOLAY, Associate Professor, Doctor of Economics, has extensive experience in teaching and researching finance and banking at the Institute of Management (IAE), Nice. Since 2013, he has held the position of Attaché for scientific and university cooperation at the French Consulate in Wuhan, China (2013-2017) and the French Embassy in Vietnam (2017-2021).
During their working term in Vietnam, the two men have made many contributions to VAST construction and development, such as activities related to the University of Science and Technology of Hanoi (USTH). Typical is the signing and implementation of the Vietnam - France Intergovernmental Agreement on USTH development in 2018; Connecting and promoting cooperation activities between the VAST and French research institutions such as the French National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS), Institute of Research for Development (IRD) - France, the Centre National d'Etudes Spatiales (CNES).
During this period, VAST has successfully signed a number of outstanding cooperation documents witnessed by the senior leaders of Vietnam and France, such as the Agreement on scientific cooperation between VAST and IRD (2018); Letter of Intent on the annual scientific cooperation between the Academy and CNES (2018) and typical diplomatic activities such as the 35th anniversary of the cooperation between VAST and CNRS (2018), ceremony to present Ordre national de la Légion d'honneur to Professor Chau Van Minh – President of VAST (2021); and Create a basis for VAST to continue to develop traditional and effective cooperative relationships with French partners.

Speaking at the ceremony, Prof. Acad. Chau Van Minh warmly congratulated Mr. Etienne ROLLAND-PIEGUE and Mr. Eric MOLAY on receiving the prestigious award of VAST, and at the same time highly appreciated the positive contributions of the two men during the past time and expressed gratitude to both of them. He congratulated both of them on completing their working term in Vietnam, wished them both a safe and healthy return to France and continued success in their new positions, and hoped in the future they would continue to support cultural, scientific and educational cooperation activities between Vietnam and France in general and between VAST and its French partners in particular.

In the intimate and warm atmosphere of the ceremony, Mr. Etienne ROLLAND-PIEGUE and Mr. Eric MOLAY thanked their Vietnamese colleagues, especially those at USTH, the International Cooperation Department, the functional departments of VAST that enthusiastically helped the two men, contributing to the success of the cooperation projects between the two sides (Vietnam - France). At the ceremony, the two men also shared some memories during their cooperation with Vietnam, and expressed their honor and emotion when receiving the insignia. Mr. Nicolas Warnery, French Ambassador to Vietnam, thanked VAST for recognizing the contributions of Mr. Etienne ROLLAND-PIEGUE and Mr. Eric MOLAY and commented that in the coming time, the Embassy of France in Vietnam will continue to work closely together with the Academy to carry out French-Vietnamese scientific and educational cooperation activities.
