Airbus Group delegation visited and worked with Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology

The meeting was also attended by Dr. Bui Trong Tuyen, Director of the Institute of Space Technology; and Dr. Le Quynh Lien, Director of International Cooperation Department, VAST. At the meeting, the two sides shared and evaluated the results of cooperation in recent years and sought new potential cooperation opportunities in the future.

At the meeting, Prof. Dr. Le Truong Giang congratulated Mr. Zakir Hamid on his new appointment and welcomed him to VAST for the first time. There has been a very successful cooperation between VAST and Airbus on the operation of VNREDSat-1 satellite in orbit for more than 10 years. Prof. Dr. Le Truong Giang hoped that in the coming time, Airbus will continue to support VAST in effectively operating and exploiting VNREDSat-1 satellite, contributing to tightening the good traditional relationship between VAST and Airbus, and between the Governments of Vietnam and France.

At the meeting, Mr. Zakir Hamid said that he has only started this new position in September this year, and this visit and work is aimed at strengthening the cooperation between two sides as well as introducing VAST to the potential of Airbus' existing capabilities in supporting VAST in implementing the new project. Mr. Zakir Hamid emphasized that Airbus can have products and solutions that meet VAST's projects.

Speaking at the meeting, Dr. Bui Trong Tuyen, Director of the Institute of Space Technology, said that VNREDSat-1 satellite was the result of successful cooperation between Airbus and VAST. The satellite has now been operating efficiently for more than 10 years. During the operation, thanks to the coordination and support of French experts, Vietnamese officials mastered the operation of VNREDSat-1 satellite. Dr. Bui Trong Tuyen expressed his hope that Airbus will continue to provide technical support to be able to maintain VNREDSat-1 operation for the longest time, and that Vietnamese officials can operate and exploit satellites in the best way. 

Mr. Zakir Hamid expressed his pride at being highly appreciated by VAST for the quality of Airbus products in the field of satellites. On behalf of Airbus, he hoped that the two sides would soon find new cooperation opportunities for the next satellite, and committed to continue technical support for VNREDSat-1.
