A kick-off workshop of "Hue Initiatives - green space, green city" within the framework of GreenCityLabHue Phase 2 Project
The GreenCityLabHue research project is funded by the German Ministry of Research and Education (BMBF) with participation of the Independent Institute of Environmental Issues (UfU, Berlin) and the Faculty of Geography – Humboldt Universität zu Berlin (HUB), and extended project members include Mientrung Institute for Scientific Research (MISR) of the Vietnam National Museum of Nature (VNMN), Faculty of Architecture, University of Faculty of Science - Hue University (HUSC) and Thua Thien Hue Provincial Institute for Development Studies (HueIDS)
The workshop was facilitated by Mientrung Institute for Scientific Research (MISR) and the Faculty of Architecture, University of Science, Hue University (HUSC) in a digital form of Zoom with the participation of more than 50 delegates, including members of the GreenCityLabHue project, lecturers from Hue universities, representatives of localities with showcase sites (An Dong, Thuy Bieu) and interested groups and individuals participating in the contest of "Hue Initiatives - Green Space, Green City" who are currently living and studying in Hue.

At the Opening the workshop, Mr. Fabian Stolpe (UfU), the coordinator of the GreenCityLabHue project of the UfU Institute, which is the project leading institution together with Humboldt University in Berlin, on behalf of the project management board and the director of the UfU Institute, Dr. Michael Zschiesche, sincerely thanked the Mientrung Institute for Scientific Research, a research unit of the Vietnam National Museum of Nature, the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology and the Faculty of Architecture, University of Science, Hue University for their cooperation with UfU to organize a design competition of "Hue Initiatives - Green Space, Green City".
Msc Fabian Stolpe emphasized that the contribution of young people and Hue citizens is an important foundation for the future transformation of green infrastructure in Hue city and creating breakthrough initiatives for Hue city and other central provinces could refer and apply. At the same time, the Organizing Committee hoped that the participating groups would have a rewarding and enjoyable time when participating in the design competition "Hue Initiatives - Green Space, Green City" and the experiences that the groups that are about to gain when participating in the competition would help shape a new vision of climate change adaptation at local, city-wide and globally. Together, the GreenCityLabHue project and the people of Hue would create initiatives and work together to build it into reality to give Hue people a new space to meet the needs of climate change adaptation, improving the public health and promoting local economic development with nature-based solutions.
The questions and discussions at the Workshop were received and updated by the Organizing Committee to continue to disseminate the information about the contest more widely across the province as well as support groups participating in the competition so that their initiatives can be improved to reach the highest quality. The workshop took place in an open atmosphere, connecting between the Competition Organizing Committee, local authorities and groups as well as between groups and individuals. The conference was organized briefly and saved time through optimal use of Zoom's functions such as the 04 group discussion rooms corresponding to 04 wards of An Dong, Phu Hoi, Tay Loc and Thuy Bieu and attracted the attention and as many questions from participating members. The seminar ended at 16:00 on 11/12/2021.
