A Journeys of 30 years – Institute of Materials Science (1993-2023)
Attending the Celebration were: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Tuan Anh, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Vice President of Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology; Prof. Acad. Dang Vu Minh, former Member of the Communist Party Committee, former President of the Vietnam Institute of Science and Technology, Honorary President of Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations; Dr. Pham Tuan Huy, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Party Committee of Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology; Comrades Leaders of units affiliated to Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology; and representatives of ministries, universities, enterprises having cooperative relations with Institute of Science and Technology. On the side of Institute of Materials Science, were: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Doan Dinh Phuong, Secretary of the Party Committee, Director of Institute of Science and Technology; Comrades in the Party Committee, the Board of Directors of Institute of Science and Technology; Comrades former leaders of Institute of Science and Technology and former staff of Institute of Science and Technology through the periods, together with more than 200 officials and employees are working at Institute of Science and Technology.
Overview of the Ceremony
30 years ago, on June 11, 1993, Prof. Acad. Nguyen Van Hieu, Director of the National Center for Science and Technology (now Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology) signed the decision to establish Institute of Materials Science under the National Center for Science and Technology, marking the establishment of the largest specialized research institute in Vietnam in materials science and technology. Over 30 years, constantly striving, generations of staff, officials and employees of the Institute of Science and Technology have built and developed the Institute to become a leading specialized research institute in Vietnam, prestigious in the region and in the world, with many meaningful contributions to the development of social economy, National defense and security of the country. The achievements in the past 30 years of Institute of Science and Technology have been recognized by the Party and the State through the noble awards granted to the Institute.
With outstanding achievements in 30 years of construction and development, Institute of Materials Science was honored to be awarded the Labor Medal of the Third Class (in 2003), the Second Class (in 2008) and the First Class (in 2013). In recent years, from 2017 – 2023, Institute of Materials Science has been awarded titles by the State and all levels and branches such as: Certificate of Merit of the Prime Minister in 2018, Emulation Flag of the Government in 2020 and 2021, Emulation Flag of the Academy in 2020, 2021; Certificate of Merit from the President of the Academy in 2017, 2019, 2020; IPSTAR Patent Star Award2021; 6 consecutive years won the title of "Excellent labor collective" (2017-2022).

On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of its establishment, Institute of Materials Science was honored to be awarded the Third-Class Independence Medal by the Party and State, and awarded the Certificate of Merit by the President of Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology for outstanding achievements in scientific research. Authorized by the President, on behalf of leaders of Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Tuan Anh, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Vice President of Academy, awarded the Decision on Commendation and affixed the Third-Class Independence Medal on the traditional flag of the Institute of Materials Science.

Speaking at the ceremony, Vice President Tran Tuan Anh, on behalf of the Party Committee and the Board of Directors of Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology, congratulated Institute of Materials Science on the achievements in recent years. Over 30 years of construction and development with the dedication of generations of leaders, scientists and employees, the Institute of Materials Science has made many achievements in basic research on modern materials science, technology research and development, deploy applications in production, life, defense, security and human resource training and wish the Institute of Materials Science to continue promoting tradition, growing to new heights, worthy of being the leading specialized scientific research institute in Materials Science and Technology of Vietnam and the world, actively contribute to the cause of rapid and sustainable construction and development of the country.
