51st Vietnam Conference on Theoretical Physics

01/10/2026
The Centre for Theoretical Physics and the Centre for Computational Physics under the Institute of Physics of Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology, in coordination with the Vietnamese Theoretical Physics Society and with sponsorship from the International Centre for Physics under the Institute of Physics of Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology and the Asia Pacific Centre for Theoretical Physics (Pohang, the Republic of Korea), successfully organised the 51st Vietnam Conference on Theoretical Physics in Nha Trang from August 3 to 6, 2026. Over the past half century, the Vietnam Conference on Theoretical Physics has been held annually and has become a traditional and prestigious scientific forum for researchers from Vietnam and around the world to present and discuss new findings in theoretical physics.

An overview of the conference

The conference brought together 180 delegates from more than 40 universities and research institutes in nine countries and territories. The conference was attended and chaired by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Minh Tien of the Centre for Theoretical Physics and President of the Vietnam Theoretical Physics Society, who also served as Chair of the conference, while Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Huy Viet of the Centre for Computational Physics served as Head of the Programme Committee. Invited guests included Prof. Dmitry Kazakov, Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences and Director of the Bogoliubov Laboratory of Theoretical Physics at the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research in Dubna, Russia; Prof. Dr. Chou Mei Yin, Vice President of Academia Sinica (Taiwan, China); and Prof. Dr. Hu Jiangping, Deputy Director of the Institute of Physics under the Chinese Academy of Sciences, along with many other scientists.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Minh Tien delivers the opening remarks at the conference

In his opening remarks, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Minh Tien gave an overview of historical milestones and interesting information about the conference over the past half century. The scientific programme began with the presentation of the 2026 Young Researcher Award of the Vietnamese Theoretical Physics Society to young researcher Tran Dinh Cuong of Phenikaa University for his research collection on combining the moment method and nonlinear Langevin equations in the study of the physics of matter under extreme conditions. The Young Researcher Award is presented annually by the Vietnam Theoretical Physics Society to young researchers aged no more than 35 who are official members of the Society and have achieved outstanding research results over the previous three years. The award was first presented in 2010 and has received increasing interest from young researchers at home and abroad.

Over the four days, delegates heard and discussed 13 invited presentations, 48 oral presentations and 96 poster presentations on topics in the fields of elementary particle, nuclear and astrophysics; molecular physics, quantum optics and quantum information; condensed matter physics; soft matter physics, biophysics and interdisciplinary physics. In addition to scientific presentation sessions, the conference also featured group activities to facilitate exchanges and foster connections among scientists from different research institutions in Vietnam and abroad.
