Tran Dai Nghia Award is a science and technology award of Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology to honor scientists with outstanding achievements in natural sciences and technology; Directly organize and deploy the application of those results to contribute to the cause of economic and social development and ensuring the country's security and defense. The award is given to Vietnamese and foreign scientists and technologists who have led outstanding research projects in the fields of natural sciences and technology such as Mathematics; Mechanics; Information science and computer science; Physics; Chemistry; Life science; Earth science; Marine science; Environmental science and energy and engineering.
In previous times, the Standing Agency of the Award and specialized scientific councils worked actively and responsibly and nominated six projects to award the Award. These works span many fields, span a wide range of applications and continue to exist, develop and improve until today.
In 2025, on the 112th anniversary of the birth of Professor and Academician Tran Dai Nghia (September 13, 1913), the 66th anniversary of the founding of the Ministry of Science and Technology, the 50th anniversary of the founding of the Academy of Science and Technology Vietnam, the 2025 Tran Dai Nghia Award wishes to find and honor the authors of the most excellent works that have been and are being applied to practical life, bringing economic, social and security effectiveness.

According to Prof. Dr. Chu Hoang Ha, Vice President of VAST, the press conference to launch this Tran Dai Nghia Award is aimed at research units (Institutes, Schools, Centers...), scientists and technologists. Colleagues working in the field of science and technology abroad prepare complete and correct award nomination documents to participate in consideration for the Tran Dai Nghia Award in 2025. Prof. Dr. Chu Hoang Ha expressed his hope that the 2025 Tran Dai Nghia Award will be awarded to the most worthy and outstanding scientific and technological works.

Regarding the award structure, the Organizing Committee will award from one to three awards to authors of scientific works; Each project includes a maximum of three main members participating in award consideration.
Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology will begin accepting Award applications from October 1, 2024. Applications for award consideration need to be sent to Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (18 Hoang Quoc Viet, Nghia Do, Cau Giay, Hanoi) through the Technology Application and Deployment Department, before December 31, 2024, calculated by postmark.

The third Tran Dai Nghia Award in 2025 is expected to be awarded on the anniversary of Science and Technology Day, and the 50th anniversary of the founding of Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (May 2025).
