16th Executive Committee Meeting: Summary of Party work in first quarter, key tasks in second quarter of 2024

In the afternoon of March 28, 2024, the Party Executive Committee of Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (VAST) organized the "16th Executive Committee Meeting: Summary of Party work in the first quarter, key tasks in the second quarter of 2024". Comrade Chau Van Minh, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Party Committee and President of VAST presided over the Conference, attended by members of the Standing Committee, members of the Executive Committee and members of the Party Inspection Committee of VAST.

Attending the conference were representatives of the Central Organization Committee, the Central Committee for Propaganda and Education and the Party Committee of Central Agencies.

2024 is an important year in accelerating the implementation and striving to fulfill the targets of the resolution of the Party Congress at all levels for the 2020-2025 term. In the first quarter of 2024, the Party Committee of VAST and its affiliated committees have made efforts and synchronously implemented the assigned tasks, especially the development of programs and plans in 2024 and the implementation of the Job Placement Scheme. Especially, the Party Committee of VAST welcomed Comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia - Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Committee for Propaganda and Education and representatives of ministries and branches to work on basic research development, applied research, technology development, training of high-quality human resources in science and technology in recent years and tasks, solutions in the near future.

After listening to the draft reports, the Conference discussed, contributed many ideas, clarified the results achieved in the first quarter, and proposed key solutions to effectively implement the assigned tasks in the second quarter of 2024 and voted to basically approve the contents:

• Preliminary report on Party work in the first quarter and key tasks and solutions in the second quarter of 2024 of the Party Committee of Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology.

• Action plan for the implementation of the Resolution of the Eighth Conference of the XIII Party Central Committee on continuing to build and promote the role of intellectuals to meet the requirements of rapid and sustainable national development in the new period and Conclusion 69-KL/TW.

Participants also heard the thematic report "Research and development of hydrogen technology at the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology" organized by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hoang Anh Son - Director of Institute of Materials Science

Speaking at the end of the conference, Comrade Chau Van Minh - Secretary of the Party Committee and President of VAST, asked the members of the Executive Committee based on their assigned tasks to continue leading and directing the good implementation of political tasks in the second quarter of 2024 as well as unexpected tasks, assigned importance; focus on implementing documents related to the All Progressives Party Congress to the 14th National Congress of the Party; direct the completion and approval of the Employment Placement Scheme of units affiliated to VAST and continue to carry out activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology.
