100th anniversary of Professor, Academician Tran Dai Nghia’s birth
The event drew the participation of Dinh The Huynh, Politburo member, head of the Party Central Committee Commission of Popularization and Education; Nguyen Quan, member of the Party Central Committee, Minister of Science and Technology; Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh, member of the Party Central Committee, secretary of the southern Vinh Long provincial Party Committee; representatives from the Office of the Government, the Ministry of National Defence, the Administration of National Defence Industry under the Ministry of National Defence, the Administration of Techniques under the Ministry of National Defence, the Administration of Logistics under the Ministry of National Defence, the Institute of Military Science and Technology, the Vietnam Institute of Military History, the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics and Public Administration, the Institute of Party History under the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics and Public Administration, the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Construction, the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences, Ho Chi Minh mausoleum management board, leaders of Vinh Long province and representatives from Prof. Acad. Tran Dai Nghia’s family.
Representatives from VAST included Prof. Chau Van Minh, member of the Party Central Committee, secretary of VAST Party Committee and VAST president; Prof. Acad. Nguyen Van Hieu, the former head of the Vietnam Academy of Sciences; Prof. Nguyen Dinh Cong and Prof. Duong Ngoc Hai, VAST vice presidents; and former leaders of VAST and leader of units under VAST.
Incense offering ceremony to Prof. Acad. Tran Dai Nghia’s memorial
Opening the ceremony, Prof. Minh made a speech to commemorate Prof. Acad. Tran Dai Nghia, a heroic scientist of Vietnamese intellectuals. Prof. Acad. Tran Dai Nghia is a person respected by the present generation, cadres and soldiers during the two struggles, scientists, military weapon workers, domestic compatriots and international friends. He was considered a legend.

Regardless of position, Professor, Academician Tran Dai Nghia always gathered intellectuals, unified them and directed them to the objective of building a modern Vietnamese science adequate to solve problems posed by practice. He collected many people thanks his righteousness, generosity and intelligence. People nationwide loved and admired him. Intellectuals were proud of their outstanding representative. International scientists appreciated his studies. In 1966, he was voted a foreign academician at the Soviet Union Academy of Science. The party and state assigned him many major works and he completed them excellently. As a military man, Major General Tran Dai Nghia was brave and dedicated. As a scientist, Prof. Acad. Tran Dai Nghia set an example as a true researcher who devoted himself to the scientific career.
Addressing the ceremony, on behalf of the Politburo and Secretariat of the Party Central Committee, Politburo member and member of the Party Central Committee Commission of Popularization and Education Dinh The Huynh expressed his respect and gratitude for the great contribution made by professor, academician, heroic scientists and major general Tran Dai Nghia to the revolutionary cause of the nation. On this occasion, Mr. Huynh hoped that scientists, cadres and civil servants, in VAST in particular and Vietnamese scientists in general, make their best effort and follow this example; and cultivate their dream to make further contribution to the nation"s scientific community, to make worthy contribution to the cause of national building and defence.
