Project's title Study on cytotoxic substances from sea slug Aplysia dactylomela Rang, 1828 in Quang Ngai
Project’s code DLTE00.01/23-24
Research hosting institution Institute of Chemistry
Project leader’s name MSc. Pham Thanh Binh
Project duration 01/01/2023 - 31/12/2024
Project’s budget 500 million VND
Classify Grade A
Goal and objectives of the project

- Isolation and structural of chemical constituents of sea slug Aplysia dactylomela.
- Evaluation of cytotoxic activity on three human cancer cell lines: lung cancer (A549), breast cancer (MCF-7) and liver cancer (HepG2).

Main results

- Identification of sea slug Aplysia dactylomela by DNA method.
- Twelve compounds (AD1-AD12) were isolated from the methanolic extract of sea slug Aplysia dactylomela. Their structures were elucidated by means of spectroscopic methods, including 1D, 2D NMR and HR-ESI-MS, and comparison their spectra data with those reported in literture. Among them, seven new compounds were obtained.
- Evaluation of cytotoxic activity on three human cancer cell lines: lung cancer (A549), breast cancer (MCF-7) and liver cancer (HepG2) from 12 isolated compounds.

Novelty and actuality and scientific meaningfulness of the results

- Seven new compounds were isolated from sea slug Aplysia dactylomela.
- Seven new compounds were tested for cytotoxicity on three human cancer cell lines: lung cancer (A549), breast cancer (MCF-7) and liver cancer (HepG2). Of these, compound AD9 showed strong cytotoxic activity on the A549 cell line with an IC50 value of 8.15 μM.
