Project's title | Study on the exploitation and development of some high economic value orchid species of Tay Nguyen based on the application of LED lighting technology and bioproducts |
Project’s code | ĐL0000.02/21-23 |
Research hosting institution | Center for High Technology Development |
Project leader’s name | Dr. Do Thi Gam |
Project duration | 01/01/2021 - 30/06/2024 |
Project’s budget | 1.500 million VND |
Classify | Grade B |
Goal and objectives of the project | Exploit and sustainably develop two high economic value orchid species (Gia Hac Di Linh (Dendrobium anosmum Lindl.); Kiem orchid (Cymbidium sp.) in Tay Nguyen oriented towards production combined with conservation. |
Main results | - Theoretical results: + Suitable in vitro culture mediums were selected for Gia Hac Di Linh (D. anosmum Lindl) and Cymbidium sp. + An in vitro propagation process under LED light was developed for Gia Hac Di Linh (D. anosmum Lindl). Blue LED light (465 nm) was used for the PLBs multiplication step, the PLB generation rate is up to 79.56% after 2 months of culture. The combined LED light BR37 was most suitable for the regeneration of buds from PLBs with the average number of shoots/PLBs reaching about 7.33 shoots. The emergence time of shoots was also shorter than those cultured under fluorescent lights. LED BRW 151 in which combined with warm white LED significant promoted plants rooting. The in vitro rooting rate is approximately 100%, orchids grow well in the green house with a high survival rate. + An in vitro propagation process under LED light was developed for Cymbidium sp. Blue LED light (465 nm) was suitable for the induction and development of PLBs from seeds. The combination of red and blue wavelength in the LED BR37 was suitable for both the regeneration and shoots multiplication from PLBs as well as at the early stages of the root induction process. Meanwhile, LED BRW151 stimulated the in vitro plants to grow better before transferring to the green house. + The effects of caring, lighting and biological products on the growth and development of orchids in capony conditions were evaluated. - Applied results: + 02 in vitro propagation processes under LED light for Dendrobium anosmum Lindl. and Cymbidium sp were developed. + A manual for in vitro propagation and cultivation of Dendrobium anosmum Lindl. and Cymbidium sp was published. + 02 guiding for the caring of Dendrobium anosmum Lindl. and Cymbidium sp in the green house were published. + 02 manufacturing models Dendrobium anosmum Lindl. and Cymbidium sp based on the application of LED lighting technology and bioproducts with a scale of 500-750 commercial plants on an area of 250m2 were established. |
Novelty and actuality and scientific meaningfulness of the results | + Suitable in vitro culture mediums were selected for Gia Hac Di Linh (D. anosmum Lindl) and Cymbidium sp. + in vitro propagation process under LED light was developed for Gia Hac Di Linh (D. anosmum Lindl) and Cymbidium sp. + 02 manufacturing models Dendrobium anosmum Lindl. and Cymbidium sp based on the application of LED lighting technology and bioproducts were established. |

Research region | The research results were applied for manufacturing Gia Hac Di Linh (D. anosmum Lindl) and Cymbidium sp at the High-Tech Agricultural Park of Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology in Dak Lak province. |
Recommendations | + Continue to evaluate the applicability of LED lighting technology on a number of other species of the Dendrobium and Cymbidium families. + Continue to evaluate the economic efficiency and quality of commercial orchids produced on a larger scale. + Organize workshops to popularize LED lighting technology in in vitro propagation of Dendrobium and Cymbidium to the needed manufacture faccilities. The project’s leader confirms hereby the veracity of all the details and information given above. |
