Goal and objectives of the project

Successful fabrication of CoFe-SiO2 core-shell nanoparticles with pororus surface structure and diameter below 200 nm for application in drug loading and modeling of their controlled movement inside cylindrical capillaries (blood vessels). under the influence of an external magnetic field.

Main results

- Successfully fabricated a smart drug delivery material system based on porous SiO2-coated FeCo alloy nanomaterials with different coating layers by changing the TEOS precursor. The obtained core-shell nanoparticles (Fe25Co75)x(SiO2)100-x (x = 70, 80, 90) have a spherical shape, the size of the obtained core-shell nanoparticles increases from 80 nm to 220 nm with increasing TEOS precursor from 1.9 to 5.6 ml.
- Researched systematically and in detail the structural characteristics, material phase, shape, size, and surface characteristics of the fabricated sample based on XRD, FTIR, SEM, TEM, BET measurements. It can be identified that the synthesized – nanoparticles have a core-shell structure consisting of FeCo nanoparticles with sizes ranging from 20-50 nm covered by an amorphous SiO2 shell. FeCo@SiO2 material has high porosity, surface area is 145.1 to 248.2 m2/g and average capillary diameter is in the range of 3.6-5.2 nm. This result shows the good drug adsorption ability of the material.
- Researched the magnetic properties and ability to generate heat in the alternating magnetic field of the core-shell nanoparticles. All samples show a magnetization curvers of a soft magnetic material with a small coercivity value and a saturation magnetization is in the region from 19.1 to 32 emu/g depending on the fraction of magnetic particle phase in the sample. The core-shell material system (FeCo)x@(SiO2)100-x exhibits superparâmgentic properties at room temperature. From the results of semi-experimental calculations of heat capacity, an optimal SiO2 shell thickness value has been given for the highest heat capacity value of 79 W/g. Therefore, the obtained core-shell nanoparticles can be further applied to design smart drug delivery systems.
- Set up a model for the transport of magnetic nanoparticles in blood vessels under the influence of an external magnetic field on the basis of establishing formulas to calculate the force acting on a magnetic nanoparticle in a liquid environment and built a computational simulation program based on Wolfram Mathematica software.
