Goal and objectives of the project

Setting up the automatic mornitoring system of subsidence and groundwater fluctuation and properties for warning the relative subsidence hazard at study area.

Main results
- Theoretical results: 
1) Assignment result contributes to clarifying the level of influence of groundwater on the ability of surface deformation to cause instability for local civil works and infrastructure at the developing area.
2) The monitoring station is linked to the cracking surface monitoring system of Institute of Geological Sciences for supporting the previouly scientific results to serve the warning geological hazards at study area.
- Applied results:
1) Assignment result is the scientific basis for planning the socio-economic process and forecasting the impact of surface subsidence hazard in the locality.
2) Improving the geological hazard monitoring network in the northern regional territory of Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology.
Novelty and actuality and scientific meaningfulness of the results

First time, establishing database on the flutuational and properties of groundwater to assess the possibility of surface subsidence that may occur at the study site. The database is continuously updated and regularly processed in real-time monitoring of the system.

Research area

The monitoring system has been completed and stable operating at the scientific station of the Institute of Geological Sciences in Hoang Tan ward, Chi Linh city, Hai Duong province.

Recommendations

1) The station system is completed with modern equipments. It could be expanded the monitoring channel for other environmental quantities. Proposing to add a phone transceiver to transmit data directly by internet for online monitoring and management.
2) The project's monitoring station is recommended to be a part of the geological hazards network of Vietnam Academy Science and Technology after being accepted for monitoring and warning of ground subsidence hazard.
