| Goal and objectives of the project | - Evaluate the diversity of flora at dry forests in Nui Chua National Park, Ninh Thuan province through field survey and building a reliable database for flora of Nui Chua National Park.
- Proving the uniqueness and distinct value of the flora of dry forests in Nui Chua National Park and Ninh Thuan province.
- Supplementing scientific information, increasing accuracy and persuasion, thereby helping to highlight the value of Ninh Thuan Biosphere Reserve. |
| Main results | - Theoretical results:
- Collecting, statistic, analyzing and evaluating available data as well as the researched in Nui Chua National Park, there were 1.758 species of vascular plants, with 556 species belong to dry forests.
- Survey and investigation of flora in dry forest of Nui Chua National Park, colected 378 numbers (378 records) of plants, with 1.196 specimens and stored at SGN museum.
- The scientific names of 218 species have been identified (belong 173 genera and 68 families), there are 3 species identified to the genus. In which, there are 218 species of angiosperms, 1 gymnosperm species and 4 species of herbaceous plants, of which 97 are useful plants and 11 are rare species.
- Established the flora list of dry forests at Nui Chua National Park, with 560 species of vascular plants (28.2% of the total species of plant at Nui Chua National Park), belonging to 342 genera and 99 families.
- Building a database for collected species and managed by BRAHMS software for 3.905 records of 1.975 plant species, including 218 species of 378 records from this research.
- Applied results:
- The results of this research have been used in the profile of the establishment of Nui Chua Biosphere Reserve (recognized by UNESCO) and currently used in further studies on biodiversity at the Nui Chua Biosphere Reserve. |
| Novelty and actuality and scientific meaningfulness of the results | -The results of this research is the first provide a reliable database with the most complete list of plant species for dry forests in Nui Chua National Park, thereby showing that is a rich ecosystem in biodiversity, and this ecosystem need to be protected and developed. This research contributes to the implementation of the science and technology cooperation plan of VAST and Ninh Thuan province.
- This research have published two new species, and continuing to research and publish two more new species. 58 species belonging to 32 families with 53 genera were added to the list of flora at Nui Chua National Park. |
