- About the application:
The composition of cast iron containing Fe > 88% and C > 3.2% meets the quality standards of cast iron, meeting the requirements as a raw material for the cementing process of copper powder in hydrometallurgical copper sulfate solution from ore or copper containing waste. Cast iron after melting has good castability, high fluidity, little shrinkage, and is easy to fill in the mold. In addition, cast iron also has good compressive strength, static load and abrasion resistance, so cast iron after melting can be used in casting processing to make parts with complex shapes such as: machine shell, body, belt, flywheel, crankshaft, rolling shaft, bearings, gears ...
Novelty and actuality and scientific meaningfulness of the results

- Developing and perfecting the technological process of melting nix - Developing and perfecting the technological process of smelting nix grains waste - copper slag into cast iron products, contributing to dealing with environmental problems caused by nix granules - copper slag.
- The product of the project is flat granular cast iron with the size of 0.2 - 0.4cm, with low cost, good application for the cementing process of copper powder.
- The technology selected by the project allows effective treatment of nix grains waste - copper slag particles discharged by Vietnamese factories during the production process. Cast iron products created in the project use domestic raw materials, cheap labor costs, low basic investment. These factors ensure the cost of the project's product is lower than the market.

Recommendations

The process of smelting cast iron from nix grains waste - copper slag in an electric arc furnace shows that the quality of cast iron has achieved the desired specifications. Therefore, the project team believes that in addition to using cast iron for the purpose of recovering copper by cementing method, cast iron products recycled from copper slag can be used to cast a number of other civil products such as manhole covers, fences, linings, machine platforms...
