Goal and objectives of the project
- Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology cooperates with Cabinet of Lao Academy of Science to train scientific staffs in the fied of analysis experiments and evaluation soil quality. 
- Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology cooperates with Cabinet of Lao Academy of Science research to develop standards for soil quality assessment. 
Main results
- The project has established 08 standard procedures including: sampling techniques, soil pH, soil texture, total organic carbon, cation basic exchange, basic capacity, cation exchange capacity, Al3+, Fe3+.
- Validation of the use values of standard procedures including: Limit of quantification, repeatability, reproducibility, linear range. The used values of the methods obtained are guaranteed to be reliable and accurate according to AOAC regulations. 
- The project team analyzed 20 soil samples collected in Lao, including the following parameters: soil pH, soil texture, total organic carbon, cation basic exchange, basic capacity, cation exchange capacity, Al3+, Fe3+. Soil samples with light to moderate acidity; poor organic content; the cation exchange capacity (CEC) is distributed at low, medium and high levels; particle size compositions of soil samples classified from sandy soil, sandy loam with light flesh, light flesh with sand, light meat with clay, clay.
Novelty and actuality and scientific meaningfulness of the results

The manual for soil quality analysis has been completed, which includes the following parameters: soil pH, soil texture, total organic carbon, cation basic exchange, basic capacity, cation exchange capacity, Al3+, Fe3+. This manual for soil quality analysis can be used to analyze soil quality in Lao.
