Project leader’s name Assoc. Prof. r Dr Ngo Trinh Tung
Project duration 01/01/2021 - 31/12/2022
Project’s budget 600 million VND
Classify Grade A
Goal and objectives of the project

- Establishing technological process for preparation crystalline nanocellulose by chemical method from bagasse, applying as a reinforcing material for natural rubber.

Main results
Theoretical results:
- 01 Technology process to produce crystalline nanocellulose
- 01 Technology process to  preparation natural rubber/nano cellulose nanocomposites
- 115g crystalline nanocellulose: dimension 30-70 nm; crystallinity 87.9%
- 5,1 kg natural rubber/nano cellulose nanocomposites. CNC modification by Si69 silane agent, it reduces the agglomeration and improves the reinforcing ability of CNC for natural rubber. At the modified CNC content of 3phr, the mechanical properties for natural rubber materials reached the maximum value (tensile strength: 16.9 MPa and elongation at break: 670%, elastic modul E300: 3.1 MPa, temperature of degradation: 323oC).
Novelty and actuality and scientific meaningfulness of the results
- The result has given the process of preperation cellulose nanocrystals with high crystallinity from bagasse by H2SO4 acid hydrolysis
- Developping a technology process to manufacture nanocomposites based on natural rubber (NR)/cellulose nanocrystals by mixing in NR latex solution combined with rolling. Nanocellulose modified with Si69 gives better mechanical properties than unmodified nanocellulose.
